Re: 26th January 2010 - Close comparison to current season

For my birthday (that very day) my Uncle/Dad came and picked me up on the way to Sheffield to watch that dross. The previous occasion we’d done something football specific for my birthday was when they arranged for my name to be on the screen at HT against Bristol Rovers.........As you can imagine, ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Nottingham Forest (h) sponsored by Steve Stone

A good day for us at home and elsewhere! Things looking clearer at the bottom now too. Looking likely to be 3 from us, Bolton, Rotherham and Ipswich for the drop. Bolton and Ipswich should go, especially with Bolton’s financial peril. So basically just finish above Rotherham!!

BBC have been running with that line across their website, 5 Live and MOTD. So very different to BT’s view of the match, as well as most other media outlets.

Re: BFTG United (A)

What matters is which offence is committed first. As far as I can tell, the foul was committed before Fred touched the ball, so it is a penalty. A "pass" cannot be offside, only a player. It's not an offence to pass to someone in an offside position, it's an offence to interfere with play...

Re: BFTG United (A)

If we can build on today, we will stay up. However playing in one of largest stadiums in the country, with 3,500 away fans supporting you is probably easier to get motivated for than 400 odd in p***ing cold rain in Rotherham. The big test is now if we carry this forward or revert to type.

BFTG United (A)

First time since Millwall at home that I’ve enjoyed going to a game. We played really well. I’m certainly warming to Gomes. A bold selection and it almost worked. Really pleased to see so many ‘Grads’ playing so well at OT. Also pleased to see Aluko have such a positive impact. Looks a different pla...

Millwall just seem to want to sign our team from about 5-7 years ago. Maybe they'll tempt ALF back for Aus....

Burton are 40/1 to win at Man City next week.

We’d probably be at 28/1 if we were playing Burton.......

Re: Are we really going down this season

This is no longer a football club, it hasn't been for a while. Instead, we are a fully fledged business. Since the Thais, and probably before, RFC has been a vehicle for making money with the notion of being a football club completely secondary and of little interest to those at the top of the pyra...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Manchester United (a) sponsored by down down deeper and down

It would be so typical of us to lose 2-1 in the last minute to a goalkeeping error or a horrible og. I can just see us putting in our best performance of the season and losing heroically. That would p*** me right off because we are so poor in the league. To be brutally honest, reluctantly, I feel a ...

Re: BFTG - Swansea

POSITIVES I didn't go to the game so it's easier perhaps for me to be positive, but here they are. 1) Harriott's return. IIRC he was doing really well before he got injured so it's great to have him back. 2) Eye opener for Gomes. No shitty narrow defeat or useless draw, but the real deal: a major w...

Re: Are we really going down this season

The bottom 3 now are going to be the bottom three at the end of the season, arent they? 3 teams with problems, who have all just recorded a dismal result. For any scenario where 'Parkinson stays up at our expense' will require Parkinson still being in charge at Bolton at the end of the season. I st...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h) sponsored by a new hope

Yeah its not like me saying the opposing manager today should have been OURS!!!!!! Potter wouldn't have come mid-season. Clement was basically the only man available. Unlike a month ago, when there were actually quite a few half-decent managers out of work. My belief is (and I'll get shot to pieces...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h) sponsored by a new hope

This certainly isn't Gomes' fault, and he deserves longer before being properly judged. And even if he does fail it's still not his fault. But there was nothing to suggest he'd be a good appointment before he got the job. Nothing to suggest he'd be successful once he was annoinced, and the first th...

If you want to be an idiot, crack on. All about the players and an abject lack of professionalism so far So same as before Gomes. Exactly! I’m not sure what people thought he could change in such a short space of time. I felt it was a pointless appointment. Not what is needed currently with this sh...
