Re: New beefeater

Because a pub needs trade more than 23 afternoons/evenings a year . . . . ^this, always this. I think you'd be surprised. I was chatting to the former landlord at Jagz, Ascot the other week. They used to make enough in Royal Ascot week to get them through the (otherwise pretty lean) year. They had ...

Re: Sone Aluko to China!

In a way, I’d be disappointed if this happens. Regardless of his transfer fee, seems like a decent chap who wants to do well for the team. Clearly a confidence player and he looked really good in that Derby game. But clearly very inconsistent, like lots of the other players we’ve let go (and some s...

Re: BFTG Sheffield United

Personally - I think this is one situation where there is no point in getting angry with the players or manager. The Championship is now a very hard league, and we're a new team, with new leadership, trying to pick up points where we can. I think we have better players than the other teams at the bo...

Re: BFTG Sheffield United

The game was over before I sat down . . . . . simple as that. The team on the pitch had absolute no belief that they could pull it back, and it's hard to argue that they had any chance. Sheff Utd are a better team than us in most ways. After recent results thought there was a good way of losing that...

Re: BFTG Wednesday (A)

After watching us today I feel like it's just going to be a coin-toss of whether we can stay up. Defensively we looked fairly solid, but it was only good luck and poor finishing from them that stopped us conceding. Whilst upfront we offered very little. I thought we attacked better in the first half...

Re: Financial Fair Play

I can understand why we would be close....biggest squad in history, several players on renegotiated contracts and gates well down....in addition it looks like advertising revenue is well down. But to be close we'd have had to lose £39m combined in this season and the previous two. We made a profit ...

Re: Rumour - Marc McNulty

That was £1.5m well spent. Why did Mr Clement actually buy Mr McNulty? He couldn't even get a game when Mr Clement was here. Still, at least he fitted in well with the nearly all the other signings Mr Clement made. We made some truly awful summer signings. I said it at the time and it's not comfort...

Re: January Outs

I think it’s been made clear that FFP is a big factor in our budgeting right now. I have no idea how our finances stack up but I would think the recent sales will have had a significant positive effect. You are right that the owners have extremely deep pockets (although how much of their wealth is ...

Re: January Outs

A lot of people on here are making the assumption that the amount of money available to the club to spend is dependent on internal things like transfer fees and salaries. Might it just be dependent on what the owners want to spend? They own the club and all it's assets, it doesn't matter really if w...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a) sponsored by the need not ot lose

Ok everyone: So the club has replaced the manager, it's spent money to bring in players in needed positions, it's got rid of a few that fans wanted out. What is going to be achieved by moaning right now? Do you think the players will suddenly think "Oh, the fans are pissed, better start playing...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a) sponsored by the need not ot lose

I know we don't have much time, but I'm happy to see steady improvement each week. Realistically we need to win 6 from our remaining 17 games and get a couple of draws. I'm quietly optimistic that once our 'new' team has time to get used to each other the results will come.

Hopefully our FFP situation isn't too bad and the owners will just spend what is necessary.

Either that or we bring in more loans next season. It's not ideal but it's a viable path towards promotion.

Expect he is on tidy wages as well. 2m or so would be reasonable no sell on apparently https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-set-miss-out-tiago-15741919 it's amusing that the Echo are reporting it as though the 25% would mean anything to Liverpool. Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

I just saw that Ashley Cole has joined Derby. I know people are going to disagree - but that's exactly the sort of signing we should have made. If he's fit enough for Derby for half a season then he would have been a excellent cover at left-back until Obita returns. He might have also added some co...
