Re: Value the Squad

Think all 3 are about the same. I’d agree Baldock would be on the most wage so would rather he leave, but doubt anyone will take I’m a Bod fan but last season’s injuries are certainly a concern. As were Baldock’s esp in light of an injury prone history At a push I’d say I’d keep in this order: Bod ...

Re: Ex Players

wonder how much money we lost on the year extensions for McShane, Joey and Yann. 3 players that no other club would have likely taken off our hands at the end of last season anyway. And we managed I think 5 games out of the 3 of them this season. 1.5 mill? 2? There's no doubt we wasted money lookin...

Re: Value the Squad

If you had a choice Hound, would you rather keep Baldock or McNulty? What about Bod or McNulty? Both likely to be on higher wages. Both of similar or higher value? Agree McNulty doesn't seem in plans and may be easier to shift, but given the age, wage and injuries of the other two I think I'd favour...

Re: Rumour - Danny Loader

Agree £2m is stupid low. I'd be shooting £5m - £10m plus Vic's instalments.

The English youth International multiplier seems to have been forgotten by some.

But I don't buy the £10m - £20m upfront argument either.

Re: Rival Watch

He's relatively young for a manager - he doesn't need to go money hunting at that age Hard to see your reasoning there. The start of a career is exactly when you need to chase the money because odds are it will be a short career and you won't get many chances to earn. There will be a lot of unemplo...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I think the comment related to Obita making a full recovery which would mean we had four proven Championship quality full backs plus three with first team appearances who all show various degrees of significant promise. As I said, not up to the standard of Murty and Shorey or Griffin and Harte, but ...

Re: Value the Squad

So an established international right back is worth nothing but a right back with 1 minute's first team experience is worth £1m+? If you read what I put at the bottom, I said I’d like to renegotiate Gunters contract. Failing that, yes, Gunter is being paid £1.25 million a year (I’d guess), the yout...

Re: Value the Squad

I'd give McNulty a go alongside or in behind our main striker. I'd rather sell Baldock than McNulty tbh. Baldock's likely to be on higher wages. So would I. Gomes, however, plays a 4-3-3 system with a number 10 like Swift (or Barrett!), not a floating poacher like McNulty. He is absolutely not a Go...

Re: Value the Squad

It's a weird one, because what actually is value?

What you'd be willing to sell someone for?
What you'd need to spend to replace them?
What you'd spend to sign them?
What another team would be willing to pay for them?

How much affect does contract length have?

Re: Next Season's Squad.

If Obita can recover and refind his form I can't think of a time when we'd be better stocked at full back. Individual quality in first choice may not be up to our highest standards, but Yiadom and Obita with Gunter, Blackett, Richards, Watson and Howe is an overabundance of strength in depth worthy ...

Re: Rumour - Sammy Szmodics

Big step up from League 2 and we've got plenty of promising young attacking midfield talent already in Olise, Barrett, Frost and Holsgrove. For free probably worth a punt, double figure goals two seasons running is good from midfield and he's got a solid number of appearances behind him. But not som...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

It's no big deal, but data migration is a very standard part of any IT development regardless of whether the two systems talk to each other. And duplicate / inactive account data deletion should be no problem as part of that. None of which means getting users to reregister isn't a valid thing to do...

Re: Rival Watch

, I find it hard to understand Potter's reasoning Would ‘massive salary increase’ go some way to helping you understand ? Yeah, isn't the average manager tenure something stupid like 18 months now? Chances are decent he'd be sacked by the end of next season anyway. Clubs are just encouraging manage...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I can still see Gunter as a starter in the Championship in the right team. He's an established international, the right side of 30 (just) and has had a relatively injury free career. As you say, he's a safe player. Wouldn't surprise me if he went back to Cardiff. McCleary is 32 and is coming off 18...

Re: 18/19 End of Season Awards

4 of the 6 - Walker, McNulty, Meyler and O'Shea didn't really play much, even under Clement. Even Baldock, even when fit, wasn't really his full-time every day starter? Last Summer we needed help sooner rather than later. If Clement was in here now, reckon he'd say he was disappointed with how it p...

Re: 18/19 End of Season Awards

Loanee's are not signings. Take them out of that list and you'll see what's left. Walker - didn't disappoint. To disappoint, you need moderate expectations. Everyone had written him off before he'd joined so it's difficult to say he's "disappointed" - he's simply achieved what people thou...

Re: Rumour - Danny Loader

Not sure who wins if this transfer happens. Loader was starting to find his feet towards the end of the season and will likely get 20+ starts next year with us, to replace that we'd probably need someone on much higher wages and a decent transfer fee. I can't see him starting more than a couple of ...
