Re: Value the Squad

This isn't the first summer where there has been interest in Loader. He's been more reluctant to sign a new deal than some of our other young players because... well I'm not going to put motivations in his head, but for whatever reason he is unconvinced of the benefits of a long-term contract at Re...

Re: RUMOUR - Gomes wanted

Sutekh Likewise, let's hope Reading already have names and a course of action in hand if JG does go - and if he does at least the compensation should be fairly decent.

Ha, who'd have thunk it, Gomes may be our most sell-able asset. Maybe we'll keep Swift after all. :)

Re: RUMOUR - Gomes wanted

I know it’s in our nature as Reading fans to be pessimistic and not credit others for their good work but I do think we should give credit where credit is due. But if you perfer to put it all down to good luck who am I to convince you otherwise. See 'false 3rd'. Why is no one interested in Bielsa? ...

Re: Rumour - Danny Loader

Wow, maybe triple figures then?
Swore I read somewhere he ‘needs a loan in Lg 1 or 2’ a couple months ago.
That was before ‘that’ goal, of course.

Re: 18/19 End of Season Awards

4 of the 6 - Walker, McNulty, Meyler and O'Shea didn't really play much, even under Clement. Even Baldock, even when fit, wasn't really his full-time every day starter? Last Summer we needed help sooner rather than later. If Clement was in here now, reckon he'd say he was disappointed with how it pa...

Re: Rumour - Danny Loader

Crowbar6753 Loader is clearly going to be a star.

As a striker, in the Premier League? Well, he might, but at this point not sure I'd say he 'clearly' will.
The odds are against it and many more fail than succeed, esp at that level, and with all the overseas players competing there as well.

Re: 18/19 End of Season Awards

I mean I'm not to say whether an opinion is correct or not but I'm genuinely interested to work out who the 90% was We signed the following: Walker Yiadom O'Shea Eza Meyler Sims Baldock McNulty Ejaria Baker Oliveira Miazga Martinez I'm not sure who the 90% is in that list personally... Loanee's are...

Re: Rival Watch

Take Derby’s loan players out and they suddenly look much less a team. I HATE clubs that just bring in better players short term from other clubs rather than developing or buying their own. It’s basically cheating. Hands up, who was it in here that wanted to sign Baker on loan again (and the other ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Yep, you’re right. I've become guarded who I’ll debate with. You weren’t here, but years ago there were so many people and we had a riot, but not so much anymore. Don't know how we get back there? But yep, you and I shoot the breeze. Going forward, with where we are, I’m optimistic re. Gomes, but re...

Re: Rumour - Josh Morris

Reading, QPR and Millwall are reportedly after Scunthorpe winger Josh Morris, 27 Josh can also play left side of defence and central midfield He's also the guy that scored THAT goal at Plymouth on the last day of the season. https://www.iron-bru.co.uk/millwall-reading-qpr-close-in-on-josh-morris/ P...

Re: Pre season tour

Yep, well said, good points.
Can't say I'm shocked that Gomes' first preseason is a (lengthy) trip abroad against European teams. Hoping that his contacts over there will help better facilitate what he wants to do and that it bears fruition.

Re: Championship free agents... who would you have?

I think we should be looking at Lee Gregory having departed Millwall. Scored goals in a dross team every time in the Championship and really works hard for the team. Would definitely benefit from the better service we can offer. 6'2, 30 years old, 13 goals this season, their player of the year, sho...

Re: Pre season tour

Also - seriously, are preseason games against European teams as good a preparation as preseasons against lower league opposition here? I'm actually thinking (hoping) it might be better? Depending what he wants to work on, maybe foreign opposition was specifically chosen/arranged for that? It's ofte...

Which mgrs have used Academy was your point? Anyway... Meyler 3 year deal. If he pans out, doubt Rino emerges as he did. Stam 1st yr mgr, had a go, playoff final loss on pens, bad and inexperienced 2nd year. Short tenure, who cares. Your 1871 thingy was silly? Going back to start of the Academies i...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

TBF we could line up with a team just from the academy and it'd still look strong Southwood Watson Osho McIntyre Obits Rinomhota Kelly Olise Barrett Richards Loader I'm glad we seem to be focusing more on academy graduates again. With Stam making some ridiculous unneeded signings, I felt the emphas...

Yeah I wouldn't say no atm. 10k a month is extraordinary money for anyone, but of course in the unreal world of football most Championship players would find 10k a month verging on minimum wage levels.... If you only get it for 5 years, and the rest of the time you *are* on minimum wage levels beca...
