Re: Rumour: Kemar Roofe for 7m

Not for me. I think he's had his time and needs to move on. What about the other two, LWJ? Have their moments but too few and far between. Part of the reason we struggled massively last year so time to go. Evans is 23, came straight from an academy with only a few games at Walsall previously. This ...

Re: Summer Transfers

Not the nicest of men but Jon Flanagan is available on a free.. Not nice, but turned 25 this year...right-footed but can play well at LB too...quite tall for a FB..."Speed, strength and determination...has everything required to be one of the best full-backs in the world". In short, not s...

+1, hard to disagree with this really. Collins is likely playing better, and certainly at a higher level in the Prem, is on similar wages(?), and is a couple years younger.

I’d prefer Ibrahimovic myself, but since he’s 36 I’m assuming most in here wouldn’t.

Re: Rumour: Kemar Roofe for 7m

Depends on the budget, which we know little about (although you'd imagine Clement was promised some funds?). We haven't spent anything yet, but if we spent 7 mil on Roofe, signed Maddison, kept Moore, and then still signed a main striker (who would cost north of 5 mil?) , then I'd be impressed. It w...

Re: CONFIMRED - David Meyler

Spoke to my friend back in Cork this weekend who has a fair amount of footballing contacts. He said Meyler isn't well liked by a lot of people. Arrogant and "a dick". If that's true, I won't be losing much sleep over it yet. Pretty sure Clement will have known or heard about what he is ge...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

Ian, when you say our transfer policy hasn't changed, what time frame are you talking about? Gourlay (no experience with a Champ model) has been here less than a year. Tevreden (no Champ experience) has only been here two years. Stam was here a year and a half (no prior Champ experience). Clement ha...

Re: Liam Moore to Brighton

Yes now we have O Shea we don’t need Moore. 5 million will be a great bit of business along with McShane that will gives us The oldest slowest centre back pairing in Champions history! I totally agree! It’s gonna be amazing watching the oppositions young pacey stikers, wingers and midfielders. Tear...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

I find it a bit of an odd comment though. It’s not like Clarke’s reliance on ridiculous loans, Stam’s bargain bucket first season or the wasteful expensive signings of last year It strikes me as a genuine effort by PC to fill glaring gaps in last years squad. We need a leader at CB and whilst I thi...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

Anyone who is 'open-minded' to this signing needs their head checking - there's no positive way of looking at it. It's a sign of the calibre of side we are now: mid-table Champ dross. I'm open-minded on most any signing really. Stats show that the majority of them don't pan out, at any club. We'll ...

Re: Strikers.

Would quite like to see Dadi in a front two. We only really saw him on his own or with Yann and they are too similar to be played together. Its going to be a big season for Bod at this club, I feel. (And that's assuming he's still here, as I could see us shopping him around this Summer). He arrived...

Re: CONFIMRED - John O’shea signs for Reading

O'Shea has kept himself fit over a long career. You don't play footy that long, at this level, and at that age, if you aren't fit. I'm not saying he's as quick as he used to be, because obviously he isn't. But maybe his overall fitness, preparation, training methods and techniques, diet, and lifesty...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

Decent wedge or not, I'll wait and see how he plays. If he's an upgrade on some of the CB-play I saw last season then I'll be ok with it, rather than worrying about what could/maybe/might have happened without him. They may use him some at def-mid too, which was also a disaster area last season. I r...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

I deem every signing we make as a risk, but the thing that expands that risk is that: a) blocks the pathway of at least one youngster, who could easily be better in the long run b) he’s bound to be on fairly big wages, he’s ex premiership and an former Irish international c) we talk about having le...

Re: RUMOUR- John O’shea set to sign for Reading

I certainly don’t reckon any team with ambition to win promotion from the Championship next season would seriously think about signing O’Shea. Is that now our ambition for next season? I'll be delighted if it is, but people had been talking about how next season we should try to consolidate in mid ...
