Re: 2017/2018 - What went wrong?

Might be a bit simplistic but I put it squarely down to the mental issues suffered by the team following us conceding two late goals against Cardiff in early December. We had just come off the back of two wins against Barnsley & Sunderland and our tails were up. Winning against Cardiff would ha...

Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

Josh Onomah Doubt we would/could buy him, but could be a loan signing. Just turned 21 a couple weeks ago. Plays def-mid (or, at least should). On loan at Villa this season, from Spurs. Villa may not want him in PL if they go up. He's down the depth chart in Spurs midfield, and behind another youngst...

Re: CONFIMRED - Andy Yiadom

Sounds like a sensible signing given our ambitions at the moment. He'll probably move between LB and RB cover for most of next season before fully replacing Gunter the one after. Next on the target list is someone in midfield who can make things happen and a decent striker. He's 26 and signed a 4 y...

Re: Paul Clement to Napoli?

Honourable exit for him. I think it’ll be a win-win. Agree with Wazzock, just didn’t see anything in those 8 games where I thought he was a big improvement on Stam, Clarke, Adkins. In for Nigel Clough though I don’t think it’s fair to judge a manager that came in late in the season. Unless he does ...

Re: 2017/2018 - What went wrong?

Stam had one very good season, esp considering where we had been, and then he had one bad season. Can hardly say that the very good season was memorable for the quality of the football. There were enough indifferent / poor performances to suggest that the squad was "fragile". Nobody said ...

Re: Paul Clement to Napoli?

grey_squirrel Taking the job with us could've been a bit like the rebound from an ex.

Not what you want or fancy, but better to get back out there than sit at home waiting/w@nking for something better to come along?

First poster in here to call Clement a w@nker? 8)

Re: Paul Clement to Napoli?

I'm assuming there isn't much to this. But stranger things have happened, and maybe Clement was brought in just to get us over the line? If that's the case, and he's thinking of walking, hope he makes his mind up soon, so that we still have a good choice of managers. Looks like McClaren is already o...

Re: Strikers.

Well, we went in to this season with just Yann and Bod. And look where we finished! Open your eyes man. What striker(s) would you like to see us sign, realistically? I think we could get Cameron Jerome, Che Adams and/or Nakhi Wells and maybe even a Sam Baldock/someone else not playing in a dross Pr...

Re: Strikers.

I think if we signed someone like Gary Madine from Cardiff, to go with Yann and Bod, plus our youngsters, our striker options would look better. Come on. You'd seriously accept that as a strikeforce? 3 washed up target men who haven't hit double figures for years! Well, we went in to this season wi...

Re: Strikers.

For me Kermit could be interesting. Written off by many this year and can see why. But he had no pre-season and is 35. But he seems the type that give him a good summer off and get him fit for the season, his natural hunger for the game could surprise a few next season. He seems the type who has pa...

Re: 2017/2018 - What went wrong?

Perhaps it would be more enlightening to compare this season's performances to last season's. Unfortunately, I do not have the stats for last season, to compare them, so I am unable to do that. Yep, its unfortunate. Btw, did you run a thread at the end of last season titled "2016/2017 - What w...

genome Gut feeling is we'll be comfortably mid-table next year. A top half finish would be a good season.

No playoffs and playoff final then? Or will that come the year after?

also, the comments from the panel on BBCRB to have a more visible owner - is that really what people want? An owner who appears in the press all the time and makes the most of their ownership generating PR and profile? literally no interest in hearing from owners. but it certainly wouldn't hold it ...

Right now, who are the 3 teams you have going down? Burton, Barnsley, Bolton. You? I think I might be buying the beers after this, but I've just seen Sunderland's remaining fixtures, and I'm not too sure about Coleman in a crisis, so I'll go with: Burton Barnsley Sunderland This was from back in ea...

Re: Building for next season

Cooper was a classic example of Stam letting a player go who wasn't a good enough technical footballer. Yet is proving himself more than able to play at Championship level. Cooper was more than good enough technically, certainly head and shoulders above McShane (no pun intended). His issue was that...

Re: Summer Transfers

Keep hearing about fitness/training methods. On the face of it, that should be the least of our worries. If one goes with that, it needs explanation, in finite detail, how we missed PL by one PK a season ago. And then, somehow we decided to go 180 on fitness and training methods this season. Keep in...
