Agreed, they may be hard to find, but there is a super market for young talent out there.

its an interesting one, as one thing we do seem to be churning out at the moment is good young keepers

On the keeper front - is it normal that a 16 year old keeper would sign professional terms, and be sent out on loan?

Seems very young to me. Striker, yes. Keeper no.

Depends how good he is. If we think he is good enough at 16 to be playing at that level then this is a really strong move for him.

Not saying he is in the same class by any stretch but Donnarumma made his AC Milan debut at 16, so would take this as an encouraging sign that we have another very decent keeper on our books. Potentially we won't need to buy another one for years.

Yes, that's normal.

We can develop strikers on our own. We can only really offer regular football to one U18 and one U23 goalkeeper at a time. Local clubs are desperate for goalkeepers and more than willing to play our players. And if they're at Hungerford or Basingstoke or similar, then they still train with us during the week while their semi-pro teammates are working.

Fair enough, thanks for the explanation

Are we? How many that we've produced over the last 10 years are playing league football?

I just mean currently. Ward and Southwood are particularly rated and have done well on their loans

Got some kid just called up for England U16s as well, and then Andresson signing up

Hamer & McCarthy spring to mind. Andersen went back to Denmark and plays for Brondby still I think. Stuart Moore joined Barrow last summer,

So, that's none then?

Actually, I'm probably being a bit harsh in discounting McCarthy as he was probably young enough to count. Andersen was playing league football in Denmark before we bought him over and Hamer doesn't fall into the last 10 years (again, perhaps I'm just being picky there).

Actually, just checked on Stuart Moore and he ended up playing for Swindon last year, poor chap, so he does count too.

Given he joined the academy at 8 I'd hope he would.

Well that's not too shabby a record I think for players that have been in the Academy. Whats the full list of Academy keepers that have left in the last 10 years and how many of them were highly rated at the time.

Another one that got away? I rated Jack Stacey to be honest.
