Royals and Racers
Royals and Racers Royals U23’s at home today at Hogwood KO 1pm in a Premier league 2 div 2 match against Norwich.

No preview on Royals website and no team news on the twitter page either. They want to get their act together !!!!
Norwich academy twitter has the Norwich team plus a photo from Hogwood.

RoyalsRacers, yep, I noticed that too. Pretty much nothing on our club website about the game. Even the live match centre for the game hasn't been updated. In stark contrast to the Canaries website, where they already have a full post-match report posted on the game. Anyway, thanks for your updates, as always.

Also see House came on for the last 15 mins for Swindon at the weekend and set up an injury time winner, nice cushioned header to the oncoming forward.

Nameless
Hound Two players likely to be the next ones troubling the first team

If he hadn’tgot injured I think Jordan Holsgrove looked likely to be a candidate.
Not convinced about East, can’t say he’s stood out but then perhaps he’s the sort of player who does his job without fuss . Rimonhota never really looked like a potential 1st teamer either !

By contrast £ liked the little I saw of Rino and thought East and Holsgrove were both excellent together. Both just very busy, tidy players who play good football simply.

To be honest I would say Rino fitted the busy/tidy label , very much the workhorse whilst Holsgrove, who plays in a different position to the other 2, always seems to be much more inventive/creative. Obviously never had any coaching from his father.

Nope, Nameless warrants respect on his knowledge of the Academy lads. So he gets it.

Blurb up on the website about Tom McIntyre - definitely one of our own, in that he is a fan as well as an academy product, and has been playing since he was 6, even before he could officially sign, at 8. Worth a read, and nice seeing the photos of him with players in the past like Murty and Ingimarsson

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2019/j ... -recovery/

Talking about his various injuries, he said this

But I was lucky, Reading got me to see one of the top knee specialists in the world

Obviously Reading want to protect their investment as well, but it's nice to see them looking after the academy boys like that.

On Rinomhota vs East vs Holsgrove

Would say Rinomhota is the least "gifted" of the three but is really suited to men's football.

East isn't a match winner, could maybe be compared to Luka Modric stylistically. More about dominating the match than setting up or scoring goals. Doesn't have Kelly's shooting talent although looks quite good in 1-on-1s.

Holsgrove is a real quality player, but a little unorthodox. In the U18s (same team as Loader and Holmes) he looked easily the best player in the squad. In the U23s he's been injured a lot, but the last few times I've seen him play he's acted a bit like a second East - maybe the Rakitic to his Modric. Good passer, good shot, great at finding space in the final third.

Think any of them have a chance but it's not clear what the path is for East and Holsgrove.
