Let's give him a very big welcome....

It's refreshing to have a player that really wants to join us and play for us.

Big round of applause for the lad tomorrow.

For added credibility they have a thread saying they've bid £7m for Jordan Rhodes.

They have a top record for signing strikers for a lot of money.

Not confirmed anywhere yet so presumably he has failed to be signed in time for today's debacle v Brighton.

His signing will also see further cover at right back as apparently he can play there as well.

With Tyler Blackett suggested to be on the way from ManU in the next few days as a left back, that'll just leave getting a decent striker sorted out (unless there's any last minute departures of course....)

Confimred 4 year deal:

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article ... sIoFf7g.99

Defender signs four-year deal to seal switch from Premier League champions
Reading Football Club are delighted to announce that 23-year-old defender Liam Moore has today put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Madejski Stadium.

The 6’1” centre back becomes our tenth signing of the summer, leaving the reigning Premier League champions to begin a new chapter in his career with Jaap Stam’s Royals – he will take squad number 16 after signing a deal that keeps him in RG2 until 2020.

Manager Jaap Stam said, “Liam is the type of defender who can play high up the pitch, because he has pace and he can cover distances quickly should the opposition play long balls over the top or try to get in behind the back line.

“He is comfortable on the ball and can play it out from the back, he is an aggressive defender and good in one-on-one situations. I’m really pleased he has joined our squad at Reading.”

Loughborough-born Liam came through the ranks at the King Power Stadium, captaining the Foxes’ youth team before making his first team debut for City in a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in January 2012.

Before that, Moore had made his professional football bow on loan at Bradford - former Royals skipper Phil Parkinson naming him in his back line throughout the first half of the Bantams’ 2011-12 campaign.

The following season he spent a loan stint in League One with Brentford, but also made his mark at Leicester – whom he helped take to a sixth-placed finish and into the play-offs.

Liam’s first and only goal of his career to date came in a 2-0 win over Wigan in September 2013 – Moore making 33 appearances in the City side that won the Championship title that season, earning automatic promotion to the Premier League with 102 points and only 43 goals conceded.

He enjoyed top flight football with Leicester in 2014-15 and represented England’s Under-21s in the European Championships at the end of his first Premier League campaign – crucially scoring against Croatia in a play-off to get Gareth Southgate’s side out to the tournament in the Czech Republic in the first place.

In the same England squad as Jonathan Bond that summer, Moore featured alongside the likes of Harry Kane, John Stones, Danny Ings, Jesse Lingard and Jack Butland against Portugal and Sweden for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Then, returning to domestic football, Moore spent the first half of last season on loan with Bristol City – in fact, his last appearance for the Robins came at Madejski Stadium at the very start of 2016.

With more than 100 appearances to his name and international experience on his CV, Moore has now completed his move to Madejski for an undisclosed fee and will now bolster Jaap Stam’s defensive options with the season only two weeks old.

Chief Executive Nigel Howe said, “It has taken a lot of hard work to get Liam’s move over the line and we are thrilled to welcome a player of his ability to Madejski Stadium.”

Moore’s transfer is of course subject to the normal ratification procedures of the relevant football authorities.

Huzzah, we can get Berg out of defence finally. Probably bad news for Evans.

Berg, Swift and Quinn would be my preference though. Maybe Evans, Swift and Quinn.

That would be my preferred trio as well, except I'd have Berg in the middle sitting a little deeper.
