Pretty evident that they are ready to welcome us

No probs.. but

(Wasn't their downfall something to do with selling the land around their ground in addition to the boom and bust owners who bought in.....then checked out?)

Bought the FA Cup tho'

Nameless The core question in the article is a reasonable one to ask. Hardly original though as it's pretty much been debated on here since the summer !
The article however is really lazily written and poorly researched. We could play a little game of spot the error. How many mistakes or misrepresentations can YOU Find in it.....
And the comparison with Pompey is somewhat bizarre, the one reasonable point is the splitting of the land and the club. But beyond that I must have missed us racking up huge debt by buying players we just cannot afford. AFAIK our debt is to the owners, we don't owe the taxman, or St Johns, or our match day staff, or the man who supplies the bread.

Well that's more balanced than the usual left wing bilge above that just disregards anything emanating from the mail.

Agree it's not the most well informed piece of journalism and that comparisons with Portsmouth are stretching things more than a bit.

However, while I have a lot of time for the Thais in that they have most certainly steadied the ship and are entitled to extract a fair reward for doing so, it's not difficult to point the finger for asset stripping and just how much of their own money went into this project is a more than fair question to ask.

SJM was clearly between a rock and a hard place when the deal was struck and wasn't the one holding most of the aces.

House!

That's Right Wing Bingo.

Chinese have failed one of the FL tests.

Rescue talks currently on going to see if they can do it another way apparently.

Was it the 'Are you a bit dodgy' test?

A bit odd that the EFL seem want to prevent this takeover given that if it doesn't happen there is a very good chance we would be in serious financial trouble.

Why have they decided to try and show they have a conscience now?

They're applying the same rules they always do. Does anyone involved have an unspent criminal conviction for dishonesty. Do they actually have the required money they claim. The FL rules have no interest in how far up shit creek a club has got itself for this purpose.

The tests are intended to protect club's, so if buyers are not genuine it has to be better to establish that early or else the consequences could be serious. It isn't about keeping people out of a club because they aren't 'our sort of people'.
However I'm not sure how much can be drawn from the news. Failing the test might be an administrative issue - paperwork missing or funds not in a place the FA accept. If the issue is easily remedied then ok, but if the Chinese are going to 'find a way round it' I'd be concerned. Anton worked round a big issue and that came back to bite us.

Of course the test will always suffer from credibility issues given Cellino somehow still got hold of Leeds...

Apparently somebody from the Premier league stepped in, hence why they have failed something. Avenues are being explored to see if this is appeal-able as the consortium failed last time, not the siblings.

Does seem to be a minor blip.
If the problem is the PL sharing their concerns about the Hull takeover, and our takeover is fundamentally different to the Hull one then Imwould think it needs to be looked at but should not be a problem. Bit of course we have no idea what the details are.
I found it amusing that the Mail article makes a thing of a club with owners rejected by the PL could still get into the PL when the possibility of Leeds getting promoted would be an even bigger problem. After all they have an owner who has multiple issues surrounding him, criminal convictions in Italy, serious legal issues here and yet still seems able to own and run a club.

So that puts Reading back in the bargain basement for transfers in January then. Certainly makes the purported bid for Hogan look like the completely made up ravings of a S*n journalist a lot of us thought it was in the first place.

Hearing the deal is still on, but PL have contacted the Relevant parties expressing concerns.

It's the new owners who have put up the money for the Ilori deal which is now done

That would suggest they expect for it to go through ... they'd hardly put money up if they didn't?
