URZZZZ
Kulshaw72RFC As expected, Hirst has gone from Ipswich.

Took a massive gamble, safe to say it did not pay off for him, Ipswich and Shrewsbury.

Should have kept MM.

Paul Lambert to take over, not sure the Norwich fans will like that too much!

How does this guy continue to get work? I may be wrong but it appears he is completely sh1t everywhere he goes...,

Stranded Not sure Ipswich will get rid as any manager coming in there after McCarthy was always up against it, there has been a bit of a slow death there (similar to us) for a while and arguably MM was the only reason they weren't where they are now before. If they do drop, they arguably have the perfect manager to look to rebuild.

Right, well that turned out to be total bollocks didn't it. I seriously wonder whether you know anything about football Stranded.

Yep hands up - called that monumentally wrong.

Think it is a strange call to replace him with a yesterday's man in Lambert esp as adding in he is an ex-Norwich manager the fans will not take long to turn on him if things don't improve.

I'm only messing with you!

I think Lambert might keep them up actually...the squad, whilst not brilliant, is good enough. I think his boring football will grind out enough points

You might be right but Lambert is a McCarthy-lite so his boring football will need to pick up points quickly else the natives will get very restless.

The PriceOfFootball twitter account posted the wage bills of Championship clubs from 2013/14 - 2016/17, showing how Big Mick had little wage budget to compete with others, and was doing a fine job.

What was also striking to me is just how much we have dropped relatively from being top 6/7 spenders to middle of the pack

Our wage bill dropped by 19% over those 4 seasons*, while the league average rose by 49% (median preferred as Newcastle and QPR both skew the mean). Our wage drop is not a surprise given 2016/17 was the final year of our parachute payments (2017/18 figures will be interesting given we signed a few players), but the PL money has filtered into championship wage growth. Separately, with the exception of 2016/17, we have been a wage bill under-performer.

* - this change is likely understated if these figures include performance bonuses which would have been high given our 3rd placed finish in 2016/17, inflating the total wage bill relative to other season finishes of 7th, 19th and 17th respectively.

Isn't our total revenue only something like £30m a season?

In 16/17 we had total revenue of £37m, which led to a profit of £4m. Both, however, were grossly misleading as they included loan write offs under 'exception items' worth £9m, so our operational P&L was a £5m loss.

I know. They lost their first four and are now flying. What makes it worse is that McClaren is their manager. Brum also flying. Both clubs were in a mess. Not now. If they can turn it around I don’t see why we can’t....I don’t see Clement being that man.

I’d love Dean Smith at Reading. He will sort out Villa.

Must admit, QPRs form has really taken me by surprise, but fair play to them

Saw the Fulham boss was apparently 2 games from the sack. Now that’s a manager I could get excited by
