John Swift

Didn't notice anyone complaining about John Swift celebrating after scoring against a club he was previously on loan at but when Jamie Mackie did the same after scoring against us for QPR he got hammered.
I guess it's different if you score for Reading rather than against.

Double standards??

Why would we complain about it? We're not Brentford fans.

I think the difference was Mackie celebrated in front of the opposition fans, Swift was celebrating in front of his own fans.

Agree that the barracking of Mackie by some at the QPR game was belmontism of the highest order. Don't know if there were any Brentford belmonts giving Swift stick after celebrating though.

Did you see Mackie's celebration? Was an obvious wind up.

Stupid point though, why the fcuk would we care that our player celebrates against his old team? Of course we care if someone celebrates against us.

We gave Mackie a good reception at the start of the game v QPR

Brentford were calling Swift a Chelsea reject

Swift had a little falling out with their fans at the end of last season - can't quite remember the details, but something he put on twitter.

Not at all but I guess you are trying to wind people up.

Mackie deliberately celebrated right in the faces of the home fans. In very stark contrast, Swift turned away from the Brentford fans and ran off to celebrate in front of the West Stand. ergo Mackie deserved hammering, Swift does not, ergo no double standards. But nice try!

Employee doing his job for current company not being allowed to celebrate doing something good against old company? Always found that weird

How do you work out someone is not being 'allowed' to celebrate ?
It's all just pantomime !
Mackie deserved a bit of stick considering the less than impressive loan spell and his subsequent comments. No idea what sort if relationship Swift had with Brentford and don't really care ...

He doesn't play for reading so can do what he wants. If we are all so rattled about it that's sad

The tweet that got the Brentford fans is a tizz was so innocuous, it was a massive over-reaction.

Basically Connor McGregor posted 'Some days they love you, over days the hate you - both days I got paid'. John quoted it and called him a legend and the precious Brentford fans though he was having a go at them.
