Who knows how this will pan out but surely a good appointment given the timing and having to find some with the right credentials.
Please don't ask Brendan Rodgers for any advice as the previous former Assistant Chelsea manager's time here did not end well
It's all about 8 games for now and perhaps the fact he has similar ideas to Stam on how the game should be played will be a good thing rather than bad. It was Stam's execution, inability to be adaptable but mostly his poor and inconsistent team selections that drove many of us to distraction.
Pass the opposition to death but ensure the end product is in their penalty area, not ours
