Since we moved away, I get one game a season.

This was my one game for that season

I remember Elroy Kromheer putting in 45 minutes of such stunning ineptitude the likes of which nothing we've seen in the last 18 months comes even close to replicating.

I stuck it out til the bitter end and even by the mediocre standard of a season season where we kept throwing away points against shit teams, I was utterly shell shocked by the second half performance.

I remember Burns' team being very pretty in possession but utterly clueless in the final third, soft as a warm shit in defence and overly reliant on 2 or 3 key but injury prone players.

I think I left with 5 mins to go and it was 4-0.

I was there. They were walking some of them in.

Worse than any home League defeat EVER suffered at Elm Park.

Left at 4-0. Clearly remember vowing never to return to the Madejski. I hated the whole thing.

Six months earlier my match day routine involved Spread Eagle, stroll round to the Southbank, find the usual spot under the clock and enjoy 90 mins of ineptitude. Here we still had the ineptitude, but there was no pub and the stroll was down a half-built dual carriage way to sit in a soulless concrete bowl surrounded by thousands of empty blue seats.

The Madejski experience really was very shit in the early days. Plus ca change.

Stayed to the end, booed 'em off, got the bus back into town, Mrs Zammo picked me up, drove to Winnersh, watched Meet Joe Black at the flicks, had a row.

Worst

Day

Ever

Ah, memories. The prematch stroll down an unfinished dual carriageway followed by a climb up the Ibrox steps.

Was then and still remains, the only game I've ever left before the final whistle. Total dogshit.

Not as much fun going up and they were going down after 20000 people piled out at the same time.

Tommy Burns described it as a freak result and just one of those things. Well he didn't have a brother in law who was a Rovers fan!
Till this day every oxf*rd Xmas and family get together he brings this bloody game up. He even has a T shirt with the result and scorers on.
