Travellers in Speedway Stadium car park

by Royal_Warrior » 16 Nov 2016 18:55

Might be worth a heads ups if you park in the Speedway Stadium car park, a group of Travellers have made it their new home tonight @ a dozen caravans. Possibly might not get moved on by Saturday

because it rarely affects the law makers.

Things have got a little bit overrun within the Reading area recently......almost everyday GetReading report that there is a new encampment been set up somewhere and that they are p1ssing lots of local people off for lots of differing reasons.

Until the laws are changed...better get used to it....our tolerance has meantime been usurped to the max

Better and cheaper places to park, so no real loss if you can't get in.

I feel it's one of the few areas of UK law where other countries deal with it a lot better. Other developed countries the notion of people setting up camp in public areas, trashing the area stealing and then eventually being moved on to another area down the road, after the couple of months it takes to get the legal backing is bizarre.

Does anyone know if they're still parked there for the Bristol game?

It is fantastically selfish that they've hijacked an area of land designated for children to play in.

I'm sure if you go and explain that they're being selfish they'll immediately pack up and move on.

Where is the best place to park now - coming from London direction on the M4. I live abroad and the Sheffield Wednesday game will be my first of the season. If the weather is ok I planned to walk from Mereoak. Are there better options?

The bus service from Mereoak was actually OK for the game against Bristol City (first time in a long time it has been acceptable) so that would probably be your best bet. If the bus service ins't great and if you don't mind the 25 minute walk, its probably your best bet. We nearly considered walking it last week but Reading Buses actually had a guy there, with a walkie-talkie, directing things which seemed to improve the service, so I think enough people have complained about the poor service to actually do something about it now.
