Smart by Zidane - I think he could see this season coming so walked in the summer. Can now come back in knowing he can drive this summers recruitment.

Solari relieved of first team duties but not sacked. He's been offered the chance to stay in another role.

Difficult to see why you would want to keep someone who almost got Castilla relegated twice, alienated Isco amongst others and ended the season of the first team in the space of a week.

Must have been a hell of a contract he was on to want to avoid that pay off.

Is he managing Real Madrid's first team? No. Was he removed from this role against his will? Yes.

He was sacked as the first team manager, nobody made any mention of him leaving the club as you well know. Try again.

Weird one. Paul Scholes leaves Oldham after just a month, and seven games, in charge. Mail and Sun saying he quit.

Not overly shocked by that going pear shaped.

He just doesn't strike me as the managing kind, and dropping down to the level when you've spent you're whole career in a totally different environment can't be an easy thing to do.

They have basket case ownership down at Oldham judging by what has happened there in the past two years, not shocked he won't put up with it. Oldham will do what they always do and just appoint John Sheridan.

Anyone know what the most number of times one person has been permanent manager of a single club ?

I'd wager it being Martin Allen at Barnet?

5 for Allen (includes 1 as caretaker) 4 for Coppell at Palace.

Had to google it, but six  , apparently. Emerich Jenei had six separate spells at Steaua Bucharest, leaving three times for other jobs, and get the boot thrice also.

Sheridan has had five spells at Oldham fwiw, albeit two were as caretaker.

Fatih Terim's 4 spells with Galatasaray is a favourite of mine.

23 years after he first managed them he is still going strong in charge

How have clubs not realised he is a bit shit? League 1 and 2 managerial appointments are laughable at times, same tired old faces in and out constantly.

Tbf that was only his second L1/2 appointment after two spells at Bradford, and his managerial record is okay - he's won more than he's lost at Motherwell and Bradford.

Darren Way also goes at Yeovil.

Some horrendous recent results, including a home defeat to Sol Campbell's Macclesfield and losing at hapless Vale. Where do they go from here? Looks like a straight shootout between those three for the final relegation spot - I don't like the look of things at Port Vale and think if Yeovil can get an injection of good results from the new arrival then Vale could very well go (18/1 on SkyBet currently).

Such a nice fella but they have gone from promotion contenders to relegation prospects so not a surprise.
