Galatasaray have been suspended from European competition for two years for breaching financial fair play rules, Uefa has confirmed.

European football's governing body said in January that the Turkish champions had broken regulations on the level of financial losses allowed, paving the way for a potential ban.

Galatasaray went out of the group stage of this season's Champions League.

They are currently fifth in Turkey's Super League.

Galatasaray, who beat Arsenal on penalties in the final to win the Uefa Cup in 2000, have played in the Champions League for the past four seasons.

They dropped into this season's Europa League but lost to Lazio at the last-32 stage.

Dave Kitson, sorry, the Secret Footballer tweeting Aviva pulling sponsorship at Norwich and their "banking credit facility" is maxed out and there will be an "imminent fire sale"

Probably megabollocks, not sure why he would bother though

I thought there was a good case for "the secret footballer" to actually be an amalgam of several players (Dave being one)...

The story suggests it's the EFL (sic) that have been offended so they're safe for now, if QPR style precedents apply

I think they've had sufficient punishment with the most ludicrous decision in football. The ghost goal for Reading.

They'll also be safe when they return to the EFL then if the QPR precedent is anything to go by.
