Literally couldn't be more buzzing for Super Sunday this weekend: Hartlepool v Barnet at 4:30pm.

Not sure whether I'll be salivating more at that or my roast dinner!

Think I'd rather watch that than the standard borefest of Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Leeds etc. being on the telly again.

Definitely. I know they used to do a Thursday night game on Setanta years ago in the Conference but maybe Sunday afternoon could open up a market? Doubt the Barnet fans are too happy going up there but they'll only a handful anyway

I have said it many times before and will say it again.

I think it is frankly ridiculous that the EFL and Conference is not shown more on Sky and BT and is as prominent as the PL. Yes I get that the audiences are not as big but you only need to look at the playoff games and practically every week there is a really exciting thriller.

I LOVE watching the likes of Lincoln with big Matt Rhead, Luton and my all time favourite, ultimate non league player........

So with Reading not playing, doing a non.league game this weekend. Fancied Maidenhead but the game is postponed so it leaves me with a choice of Slough Vs Woking or hungerford Vs Billericay.

Probably go for the latter.

John Smith Garry Hill in at Ebbsfleet. I think their days in the Conference Prem may be numbered.

Heard their owner talking on BBC Radio Kent yesterday saying that their budget is going to be reduced by 30% but was quick to point out that it won't be one of the smallest budget and they will still be competitive. Made me think about how big their budget has been up until now...

- not much action midweek but I got up to Holmer Green on Tue night to see a minor shock. Visiting Wantage were undone by an uncharacteristically resolute HG. Night started badly for the 'Freds' - they turned up with only their first team kit (Green White Hoops) -their hosts, 'The Greens' (clue in the nickname there  ) play in Green White stripes. Game actually in some doubt but some feverish dashing about yielded a friendly and co-operative local Sunday side who lent their Red kit to the visitors.
Wantage missed a hatful and more, as well as having two penalties saved, then succumbed to two late breakaway goals. Leaves the Freds floundering back in 7th and somewhat remarkably with a record of 8-1-10 Holmer Green are now level on points with them but have played 7 games more.

News today for me was that Kevin Watson is now head coach at Hungerford...that one slipped under the wire

A decent 2-2 draw for The Crusaders against the highly minted ‘Ricay today.

Good luck Kev

Winchester City 0 - 1 Yate Town

This is starting to get familiar. We were all over them, particularly in the second half.

Created loads of chances, some really nice attacking moves, but the front two just couldn't put the ball in the net. Should have been 6-0 up, when a mix up at the back gifted them a goal.

Bottom of the form tables now. 2 points from 8 games.

Big crowd down at Slough yesterday. Nice little ground but the very definition of souless I suppose. Nice bar etc just seems very IKEA.

Woking by far the better side in a freezing cold afternoon. Enjoyed it.

Whitchurch United 3-3 United Services Portsmouth

…did another long trek east to the wilds out beyond Sarfend, for an Essex dust-up in the Bostik Isthmian One North
Great Wakering 3-2 Heybridge Swifts Swifts managed by former Wet Sham hard-lad Julian Dicks – he prowled the touch line menacingly, as his charges floundered to their first defeat with him as boss – he took over a couple of months back and they have been 7 games unbeaten since.
- Pretty dismal journey there and back – M25 k£uc&ed and the A127 had some serious gridlock around Basildon – so much so we nearly diverted off for their game in the same division vs Needham. We were a bit late for the start - arr around the 20' mark with the game at 1-1
- Return journey crawled back towards the M25 on the A13 - which is just a long stop-start road through Southend and it’s many suburbs until it reaches Benfleet and a giant Tesco’s, when it finally turns into a 'propah' A-road again.
- Unfathomable number of takeaways along this stretch, of all varieties and a significant proportion of the locals do look as if they use them to excess – I’ve never seen so many people who appear to be wider than their height!!

Any news on AC London? I asked a couple of Uni mates who know players that play for that (One of whom is one of the best players I have ever played with but got kicked out of gillingham on brink of first team for carrying a knife in his shinpad.....) they have ridiculous severe disciplinary issues, not eve normal but fighting, intimidation, fan violence etc etc

I went to Bristol Manor Farm 1 - 2 Highworth Town on Saturday.

Its the closet a train line comes to a football ground. The Bristol TM - Sevenbeach line runs almost down the touchline. there is only enough room for one to stand in front of the railway fence. So there was me, poised with camera in hand, at 3:12 waiting to get the 'money shot' with a Sevenbeach service that never arrived. Bus replacement service weekend, wasnt it.

Slough v Sutton is live on BBC Berks tonight. No doubt there’ll also be a reasonable amount of Reading talk as well.

Be great if Slough can make it through esp. if Hartlepool won the other game so as to maximise Slough’s endeavours to draw Reading in round 3.
