He wouldnt tell me (or didnt know) - but from what I know about how he is ITK, the info about 2 offers is correct

Pepe the Horseman Can't we get Shane Long back for £9m?

Hogan is codename for Gylfi right?

Norfolk Royal

Norfolk Royal If we had the money I think Hogan for £9-million at the moment is a no-brainer. If we don't go up and in the likely event of him playing well for us for the rest of the season we then flog him to a Premiership team and make a nice profit.

Lovely jubbly, everyone's happy.

Or he gets injured, again, and we sell him to Villa for £4m in 18 months' time.

I'm with Leon on this, this guy has injured the same knee twice and has less than 30 games at a level above League Two. Crazy to be talking about £9m as a 'no-brainer'.

Players may get injured yes, well spotted.

Don't understand the sarcasm - this player has a recent history of horrific knee injuries that, imho, gives us reason not to value him at £9m.

Problem is they are ALL at least that price. Look at Matej Vydra. Did nothing for us last season, but still cost Derby 8 million.

He has 13 goals in 20 Championship games this season (and 7 in 7 last!) , so I don't get the "Unproven at this level" argument either. It's not like Nick Blackman where he had two seasons of nothing before having a short purple patch - he's scored at every level he's been tried at in the last 3 years.

Pretty much this.

I don't think you aren't going to find a striker that is better than what we have already got, that has played and scored goals in the Championship, for less than £6m. Its just the market value at the moment.

I would be loathe to pay £9,000,000 for a Hogan, but as mentioned above we're now in an era of silly money due to parachute payments and trickle down from the Prem. Proven quality up front will be hard to find sub £5 million.

But that something like this has come out at least indicates there should be a useful kitty in January and beyond.

All players want to play in the PL, if they say any different they are lying.

What he did say is he wouldn't go to another Championship team unless Brentford sell him - i.e., he's not going to take a sideways step just for the money. Got no problem with that. It's not like he's at Brentford sulking and doing nothing because he's not in the PL. He's scoring goals. we could do with a bit of that.

I don't see many likely destinations in the Prem to be honest. Top 12 are prob aiming higher than that, and unless he fancies being dumped straight into a grim relegation battle at Swansea/Sunderland or the like, he's prob best off at a top end champ club

Playing half a season in the prem relegation battle >>>>>> Playing for anyone in the Championship

At least if he shines for 6 months in the Prem he will be snapped up by another Premier League club - if he's average he at least then knows, and has tried it.

West Brom are linked, have hardly any strikers and I'm sure he could oust Robson-Kanu from the bench/his average 6 minutes at the end of each game.

"If only we'd signed that other bloke Hogan that used to play for Stocksbridge Park Steels."

"We should have signed that Hogan guy he played with for Halifax"

Unless it's Newcastle I cant see him moving to another Champ. club particularly as he 's said he'll only consider PL clubs. He might as well stay at Brentford where he is settled and scoring regularly and not risk a place like Reading or Villa or ano and wait for a PL side in the summer.

But stranger things have happened.

Personally, for £9m, I'd rather we tried for Jordan Rhodes

Hogan has pace which is something Stam and Tevredan have said that they want, Rhodes doesn't offer that.
