RUMOUR: Tom Denton

by John Smith » 08 Jan 2019 11:52

Currently doing a remarkable job for a struggling team, it's thought his physical presence could be a real asset for us in the upcoming games, especially away when we can only go one up top.

Seems like a risk-free signing to challenge Meite as a target man, would suit Gomes intended style of play too.

So you're recommending a 29 year old non league forward who's sole league experience is 2 games on loan to Cheltenham a decade ago?

Just the ticket for a Championship relegation battle.

For those of us not so familiar with Div 2 could you give us a little more detail as to why a 29 year old who has hacked around non league football for much of his career would be such a good fit for us ?
Is his height his main strength, in which case hard to see where that fits in with our style.
Interesting you don’t see Bod as competition for Meite as our main attacker.

Chesterfield are in the Conference National, nameless and before this season, he'd only played 5 games at that level to add to his 2 game loan spell at Cheltenham.

Can Rickie Lambert or Grant Holt be coaxed out of retirement?
Throw in McNulty from Tranmere as centre-back and we have a side to walk Div 1.(with the emphasis on walk)

was hoping the OP would get the zero replies it deserved.

Some big ugly 6ft 7inch 29 year old lump playing for a team in the bottom 4 of the national league...cracking idea

Oh yes, a player whose career peak was his 0 apps for Huddersfield town 10 years ago..... Just what we need upfront in a 20 game relegation fight......

I would rather have Ashley Hunter from Fleetwood if we are going down that route. he is more part of a front 3 though than a out and out striker. his assists are the impressive part over the last 3 seasons, it is all well and good getting a out and out striker but if there is no assists there is no goals something we have struggled with.

a forward 3 of hunter, Gmac and Bod has potential
