Quiet Transfer Deadline Day Expected

It's expected to be a very quiet day for Reading Football Club on transfer deadline day, with the Royals not expected to make any new signings. With the club takeover still stalled, as a new buyer is hunted after the disappearance of Anton Zingarevich, it seems there will be no funds available to boost the squad. The Royals were favourites to sign Hull City defender Jack Hobbs, but that deal is now off the agenda. No other names have been strongly linked and Nigel Adkins has made the unusual step of saying he didn't think the club would bring anyone new in. It's all a big contrast to previous transfer deadlines when the club promised much.

The biggest concern is that although there may be no money to buy players, the club will still listen to offers. It was always expected that either McCarthy or Federici would be making an exit. Both goalkeepers are capable of playing at a higher level and Federici must be keen on becoming a first choice keeper again - even if it requires a move. Adam Le Fondre keeps grabbing the headlines and, as Reading remain an outside promotion bet, a number of players would be keen to take the opportunity to get back in the Premier League via the transfer market. Luckily there doesn't appear to be any strong rumours of players making an exit - but there's still time for that to change throughout the day.
