End Of Season Awards

END OF SEASON AWARDS 2000-2001
Full Results

Congratulations to Martin Butler and Jimmy McIntyre who win the Hob Nob Anyone? End of Season awards for player of the season and most improved player of the season. Both players won by a clear majority - both nearly taking a full half of the vote in the respective categories. Butler won player of the season from Jamie Cureton by over 20% of the vote, with Phil Whitehead fininshing third in the table. Previous player of the seasons Phil Parkinson and Darren Caskey fared very differently, with Parkinson taking a respectable fourth position with nearly 10% of the vote and Caskey failing to win a single vote for player of the season.

Jimmy McIntyre finished well above the rest of the field in the Improvement of the Season award, taking 47% of the vote. Phil Whitehead did well but was miles behind taking a much smaller 13% of the vote. Graeme Murty and Sammy Igoe finished third and fourth in the award.

In the voting for worst and best performances of the season the votes were very well spread with no games that stood out for being either very bad or exceptionally good, with the Royals enjoying a great season overall. A lot of voters found it hard to express a choice for a poor performance and found themselves spoilt for choice for the best performance of the season. The big home win against Oldham was judged the best Reading performance of 2000/2001 and the trip to Bristol City the worst.
