The week before they beat Chester 2-0 at home. Previous Meetings

Reading's previous meetings with Hereford came when Hereford were in the old fourth Division along with the Royals. That was before Reading established themselves as a Division Two side (old Division Three) and before Hereford eventually found themselves dropping out of the Football League.

The last time the two sides met however was in the LDV/Autowindscreens/Leyland DAF/Sherpa Van/ or whatever is was called trophy back in the 1988/1989 season for a midweek match at Elm Park. Reading went out of the trophy 2-3 despite goals from Adie Williams and Trevor Senior. Before that our previous meeting was also in a cup competition in the FA Cup in December 1985 with the Royals 2-0 winners at Elm Park. Two seasons before that, during the 1983/1984 season, Reading managed to beat Hereford twice at home (once in Division Four and once in the FA Cup) and draw 1-1 away.
