Team news

Tony Rougier is expected to start after his blinding performance on Saturday against Notts County. Reading went down 2-3, but Rougier shone throughout the entire second half with a superb show of skill down both wings. Caskey came on during the second half and ran around trying to get involved - and he might well have done just enough to start in place of Keith Jones. Otherwise the Royals will probably keep to the team that lost at Notts County.

Reading - from: Whitehead, Gurney, Viveash, Mackie, Robinson, Igoe, Smith, Jones, Caskey, Parkinson, Cureton, Butler, Hodges, Rougier, Hunter, Newman, Gray.

York City - from: Fettis, Edmondson, Sertori, Alcide, Patterson, Bower, Potter, Agnew, Hulme, Jordan, McNiven, Iwelumo, Mathie, Howarth, Stamp, Turley.

Form Guide

York City have slipped a place in the league since they last met the Royals in the first attempt to resolve this second round tie. After the 2-2 draw at home in the cup with Reading, York travelled to Plymouth on Saturday in the league to go down 0-1 thanks to a third minute goal from Plymouth's Craig Taylor. The defeat should give Reading even more hope to dispose of York City this time around, even though the Royals also lost on Saturday - going down 2-3 at Notts County.

Previous Meetings

When the two sides met 10 days ago to draw 2-2 at Bootham Crescent it was the first time the two sides had met in the FA Cup, but Reading have a good record against York City going back through history - The Royals winning 11 of our league meetings and York winning just the three.
Reading wins: 11
Draws: 7
York City wins: 3

The last meeting was the 2-2 FA Cup Second round draw which forced this replay:
9 December 2000: York City 2 Reading 2

Before that Reading and York last met during the 1998/1999 season in Division Two before City were relegated to the third Division. Reading managing to take four points from the possible six during the two fixtures in that season:
