Re: Back from the game....... 'Boro

I sometimes think I have been watching a different game! Sounded as if Reading were great according to Radio Berkshire. They had no pace, continually overhit the ball, had few shots on target, were shaky at the back and created little in midfield. Luck and Feds kept them in the game. Apart from that ...

Don't htink I will ever criticize Championship refs again after the performances of Durso in the home semi and Dowd in the final. Showmen who need to get back to basics!

Re: FAO Daytrippers

Good posts from Meeko and cmonurz. Lots of common sense. I have supported Reading non-stop for 50 years, so don't call me a 'plastic' or 'day tripper' because I don't use the vilest, hate-filled profanities, don't stand up for the whole match and prevent other people from enjoying the match too, don...

Re: FAO Daytrippers

The twats in 138 spent the whole match arguing with eachother and fighting. This was not passion but the effects of being pissed and unable to hold their drink or watch a football match without upsetting other people! They can stand the whole bloody day long if that turns them on,but not at the expe...

Re: Back from the Game - Pompey

The more of these posts that you read the more you wonder which game people were at. I thought it was a poor display by Reading, who could not retain the ball, defensively were quite disorganised and struggled against ten men. Others, quite obviously, saw it quite differently. The one thing we all a...

Re: Value on Long's Head?

Shane long is a far more complete player than Kevin Doyle. He is strong, consistent, scores goals and never stops running. Where the hell would we be without him? In this resect he is priceless to us and we must get as much as we can for him if he goes.
I really hope he doesn't go.

Re: Team for Millwall (H)

I almost don't care who they play so long as it shows some changes and has a bit of pace. The defence was woeful and is so pedestrian. Must be the worst defence we have ever had. There seems to be no one who is capable of changing the game and taking it by the scruff of the neck. We are at out best ...

Re: DONE DEAL - Mathieu Manset

Good to see we are actually signing someone. Every signing is a risk, but if you minimise the risk the loss will not be great. Paying loads for someone like Fryatt does not guarantee he wil be any better. Our success rate has been good, especially as Long cost virtually nothing as part of the Doyle ...

Re: Ive always rated Shane Long

I have given Shane Long a fair bit of stick in the past and slagged him off horrendously - and the manager for picking him. However, today I witnessed one of the most complete performances by a Reading striker for a long time. Shane won everything, never stopped running, never gave the ball away, se...

Re: Robin Friday

All geniuses are tainted. Robin Friday certainly was. But he was and is a legend. He elevated Reading FC from the ordinary. I saw his debut at Northampton in a Sunday 3 - 3 draw. He looked special then. His Tranmere goal was pure magic. So were many of his goals - and his antics! I once met this del...

My mistake. Old age and watching Reading for over 50 years!!! My 11th player and left back was Colin Meldrum. A superb left back.

Just been looking through 'Royals Remembered' by Alan Sedunary. A fanatastic who's who of Reading FC players. Please can we have an update as it stops at 2001. Some great players have turned out for Reading. Brought back a few memories. My team: Steve Death Graham M Martin Hicks Aidie Williams Mauri...

Re: Back from the game - Cardiff City

Explain to me how a ball bounces over the line, comes out and hits the post then goes into Federici's arms. Who are these people who KNOW it was in? Linesman hadn't a clue. Just wanted his five minutes of fame. Long, who is not my favourite player, had a great game. He never stops and wins everythin...

Re: Back from the game - Cardiff City

Imagine if we had forwards (or anyone) who could shoot or head accurately! We had loads of gilt edge chances - more than Cardiff, although they passed better and had more decent possession. Unfortunately, we have forwards who lack the ability to do anything worthwhile with the ball when in good posi...
