Re: Who do we want to play next season?

Definitely up for a schlepp to Barrow. I was also at that game in 72 at EP when vouchers were issued for the Arsenal cup game. 52 years ago. Yikes. So was I, AR. Over 11000 came for that voucher. Was the term "plastic" or "gloryhunter" or a 70s equivalent a thing then? Ab-so-blo...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

How different is that to the times before football was invented in 1992 though? Teams having a successful period and rising up to the top division for a while then dropping back down the leagues for a while has happened throughout the past 150 years (Wolves, Portsmouth, Burnley etc). In the 70s/80s...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I was in the town end at EP, with another 4000 die hards. Wasn't the Town End the away end? Very Early seventies, pre-segregation. I can remember a game vs. Sheff Weds around that time, can't be exact about the date, but I remember their star player was called Roger Wylde. By kick off there must ha...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

For me, the most positive thing to come out of this season is the re-connection between the fans and the people on the pitch. We all know that you can't expect to see your team every single match, we do however expect to see effort and commitment from the players, and we're getting that now after wh...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

My tuppence worth! I think that the Americans (as in Wrexham) are attempting to draw locals back to the game, Wrexham has good transport links to both Liverpool and Manchester. How often can they get tickets to see the big clubs and the cost associated with this, invest in a small club with big amb...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The sweet spot is rich enough to invest well, but not so rich they can afford to piss it all away and it not matter to them. You want them to need success so they will take their decisions on how to invest seriously. I think we could reasonably argue that our club is indeed in the "sweet spot&...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Events off the pitch will be be what they'll be. Just need as to get as many points on the table as possible from the remaining games. Remaining a League One club for next season is all that matters. That's a huge unwanted pressure on the players and the footballing staff . LOL Our league position ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

It shouldn't block any sale of the club/stadium to any potential owner as the club don't own the training ground any more due to Dai's shiftiness, so club is just a name. Now Dai could try and throw that in and muck things up with the alleged deal but if this is all as people expect, Dai has a very...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Umm, maybe the main buyers didn't WANT Bearwood? Let's see, can we buy your club, but we don't want to buy where the club trains. Yes that works. It makes perfect sense if the training ground is a money pit. Also knocks £20m off the asking price. Fantastic facilities, yes but a complete white elepha...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Reading are in advanced talks with a North American group to buy the club, Sky Sports News understands. The prospective deal would see the club change hands and their ground – Select Car Leasing Stadium – would also be sold. Just goes to show what an utter disgrace Dai is, if a deal to buy the club...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Can someone from SBWD or STAR let us know what is going to happen to funds raised "to save the club" this month or to "pay for a staff party" before Christmas? It is not needed by the club now, so will the donors be reimbursed? More fool those who gave their hard earned money ju...

Re: Wycombe will be culpable.

We trained in Prospect Park well into the 1980's Football was a different game then than it is now, with Sports Science, nutrition, better levels of fitness, and better tactics. Trying to do that on a park pitch is a big ask. With respect, you're talking about Reading as if we were still a top end ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I get we're taking value out of the club, but does that make a sale harder? In the summer, we basically had operations of a top end Championship club in L1. You'd need to convince an owner to pay a high purchase price and underwrite large losses in the hope of promotion. Now we are a L1 in size and...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Strikes me that it's not beyond the realms of possibilty that someone involved at the club has taken a long, hard look at the operating costs the club are currently carrying, and concluded that we are currently unable to sustain the academy, as is, any longer. Perhaps some of the potential purchaser...

mad79 10 fouls = 4 yellow cards one red and a penalty. Same as the Portsmouth game. Crowd shout and get a foul

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The signs of doom keep on stacking up. Yep, come to terms that the club is done unless I'm pleasantly surprised by something coming from left wing. Just feels like the twat is "winning". Coming to peace with the fact and looks like I may just take my boy to Eintracht games. Given Azeez's ...
