Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Quite a bit more I would imagine, being a club legend and all that. You'd think - only recent examples I can think of though are Dalglish returning to Liverpool, which was short and sweet, and Giggs' short stint at United, albeit as caretaker, which wasn't seen as a success. you can't think of a cu...

Sarri leaves Chelski Cannot blame him, he did well, but fear for their next sacrificial lamb Would be interesting how much extra slack, if any, Lampard got, were he to take the job. Re: The generic transfer thread

So where do you suggest "for footballing reasons"? Where I said 'from a footballing perspective', and referenced Ajax's style of play and club culture by reference to the polar opposite at PSG. Obviously. Is Ajax's style of play much different from PSG's? PSG play an attractive passing ga...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Would you have said the same if it had been Man Utd or Arsenal? PSG will be in the Champs League every season and one day might get their transfer dealings right and actually win it. Money is obviously a further significant consideration as well as living in a beautiful country like France.. No, be...

Re: The generic transfer thread

For the life of me I don't understand, from a footballing perspective, why a player would choose to join PSG. The club could hardly be a bigger contrast to Ajax. The Enfield Royal71 Crushing blow to fgr as their wooden stadium has been cut down to size before it even grew.

Were there no objections to this on the grounds of a fire risk?

Re: This Summer's Transfer Thread

Interesting graphics here, I think. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48473708 Plots player's age against % of PL minutes played last season. Illustrates how Liverpool have a collection of players that should be in their peak, and have been performing well enough to get selected week in, week out...

Re: The womens world cup

Was at a charity match at the weekend that included about half of the Fulham ladies team, mixed in with some (male) academy players and amateurs, was amazed at how well they held their own. Couple of worldies scored too.

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

The continued discussions about VAR on here illustrate why, I admit, it might not work in the long-term for football. But that's not because the technology is crap, or the principles of its use, or for the most part how it is used. Why do I support VAR? Because it can't be wrong. When I say that, I'...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Lingard’s goal stands and we’d all be talking about a decent defensive display with a weaker than normal midfield. What erks this morning is Southgate saying ‘we’re keeping with the passing from defence”. Stubborn, just like Stam. You need to have the players to do this. The amount of times we put ...

Re: World Cup 2022 qualifying begins

Whilst I don't disagree, and understand the wider issues on which we should make a stand, the optics would be awful. FIFA takes the World Cup to a country full of brown people, and no-one turns up. They've stitched football up big time with this decision.

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

VAR is gonna wreck football. So football is wrecked because we had a goal rightly disallowed? It isn't quick enough yet - where it was used twice in quick succession, on both occasions Sky had shown a replay a full minute before the decision was made. In the case of the handball shout against Chilw...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

That was dismal especially Stones. England have the threat going forward but dear God that was a defensive shambles. Stones surely gets dropped after that. Couldn’t disagree more to be honest. There’s no threat going forwards, and there hasn’t been for a long long time (how many goals for England i...

Re: UEFA Nations League

Seriously? No comment about that worryingly poor performance last night? I suppose 3 weeks without a game might be a factor but it looks like we’ve been rumbled already. I love the fact that we try to play out from the back but too many players have catastrophic mistakes in their lockers just waiti...

John Smith No they don't. No it didn't. Your opinion is exactly what is wrong with modern football and you are a disgrace.

Oh, that John Smith is back.
Happy Thursday pal.

Have you been away for six months?

I thought you had. You did actual normal discussion a couple of weeks ago.
