Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Last thing I want is for team to go down, is a matter of pride we're in the league above. If they were to go down though, I could just about handle it and could see some positives in being in L1. Those thinking we'd definitely win more and play better football are a lot more confident about the cur...

John Smith
royalsmudge Already lost my 11 year old to the team up the A34

Horrendous. Awful, and all in between.

I hate it, but father in law a season ticket holder there (wasn't enough of a reason to not marry my wife).
I narrowly prefer it to him supporting Chelsea or ManUtd though as most of his schoolmates do.

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Agree with most of the posts on here. Came to Elm Park with my Dad in 80s, who only went as his workmates were there as well, loved everything about it Early 90s went with school mates on train to Reading West, same as above Could only do midweek games for 7-8 years when working, still loved it Then...

Re: BFTG - Hull

Looked at Expected Goals for the game and compared to what most would say out best 2 performances were; Villa and Birmingham Villa 1.6 v 1 Brum (a) 0.9 v 1.4 Hull 1.7 v 0.4 Suggesting the latter performance was the most dominant by some margin. I've taken a closer interest in xG after last season wh...

Re: Do you have another team?

Have no interest in any other league club, follow Maidenhead on twitter after going to a few cup games the other year. Keep an eye on the scores of first foreign team I watch in any country, particularly Chievo. I liked Liverpool when I was a kid in the 80s and didn't know any better so are narrowly...

Re: Now starts the re-build

Think we have a surfeit of wide players. McLeary, Beerens, Popa, Harriott, Stacey, Fosu, then wide forwards like Mendes & Meite Would shift at least two of them permanently, maybe another 1-2 on loan. As replacements, you're looking at other first choice or backup LB, then a younger than Yann CF...

Re: Which playoff final was worse?

Yesterday was least disappointed I've been after a "big stadium" game, couldn't go to Swansea. Bolton by a long way the worst (never thought we'd get there) Walsall (stuck in a cack league) Arsenal (including it as a similar experience), played well, gutting way to lose, long time before w...

Re: EFL Cup round 4

We definitely took more than the official 7000 that night.
There were tons of Reading fans dotted among the home support, I don't think there was one nervous moment of cheering a Reading goal in their end as their reserves thumped the 106 side.

Re: Why are "we" booing players keeping the ball?

Definitely heard the grumbles and the "get it forward" a number of times 2nd half & ET on Tuesday. My frustrations were from the number of times we did work the ball into a good situation only to ruin it with overhit or hit 1st man cross, which must have happened a dozen times. thought...

but we're stuck with him Says who? It's only the cost of his termination which would be any impediment to ditching him. He's definitely not going to walk. I'm not sure the owners want to piss away money on sacking him unless we were to lose 4-5 on the bounce, which isn't beyond the realms of possib...

Re: QPR (H) Match Thread - Sponsored by Colin

It's the total ambivalence to a pretty soul destroying defeat that is the most concerning. Fans almost to a man have given up on the season and that is almost solely down to Clarke's on/off with Fulham. Even the boos at FT were half hearted. Don't think it was lack of effort, just devoid of any conf...

Re: The "We Are Going Up" Thread

Sep 1st, 11.44am, Paddy Power, I backed them at 50/1, pretty sure that was transfer deadline day.
2nd time I've backed them in 20 years of being old enough to do so, other time they came 11th in Div 2, so I fear this will be a great value bet rather than a winning one.

Re: Back From The Game - Wigan

As bad a game as I have seen in 30 years; 2 atrocious sides without any redeeming qualities, serving up filth on a shit heap of a pitch, reffed by an incompetent.
The goal, a microcosm of the dire 112 minutes that surrounded it.

I take my 6 year old & 7 year old to one game a month. The 7 year old also has a season ticket at our poor relations 25 miles north as my father in law is a season ticket holder. They're both as interested in the scores in other games as they are the action, what little there is of it this seaso...

Re: Welcome To The Players Of My Life

I remember David McDonald, away to Port Vale Grand National day, we lost 3-1, he was beyond chronic. My one and only away trip on the supporters coach, memorable for getting a coke for 10p in the pub we stopped in on the way home. 1993 it was as remember National being cancelled, rounding off a trul...
