Re: The Non - League thread

Gateshead kicked out of NL. Does this mean a repreive for Aldershot and Ox City move back to NLS ?? Would all depend on the outcome of their appeal but Aldershot are first in line for any repreive. It is thought that if Gateshead do successfully appeal, they will likely still be demoted to the NLN ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Eastbourne Town 1-3 Windsor The crowd must have been circa 500-600. Eastbourne has 3 drummers and a megaphone and made a right old racket all through the game. Very good natured. The Windsor fans didn’t make a peep in the 1st half as the Eastbourne “ultras” (I kid you not!) group behind one goal an...

Re: The Non - League thread

Often interesting to find out what non league players are paid and how much it varies. In National South a player from Chippenham Dave Pratt is due to move to Wealdstone with a weekly wage north of £800 per week. That's about £40k p.a. For an NLS player? Are Wealdstone full time then? One t...

Re: The Non - League thread

Sorry, the end (above) is a bit unclear - when will they need 3,000? And why? Sorry my post seems to have got chopped. Ground grading for Southern League One need potential to increase capacity to 2k, then 3k for Southern League Premier http://www.thefa.com/get-involved/player/clubs-leagues/ground-...

Re: The Non - League thread

I think Bracknell is another example of the positive things that can happen to a club when money is invested in the right way. Seems they are getting gates of around 250 every time I look, which in turn means they can pay the most wages in the division. I have paid one visit there recently, and it ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Basingstoke Town now confirmed that they are leaving the Camrose at the end of this season. Good news is they are staying in town and part of a community club playing at a council pitch which also forms part of the Hampshire FA headquarters. They will be changing this to a 3G / 4G pitch and also bu...

Re: The Non - League thread

Starting to get the feeling that Maidenhead have hit an inevitable crossroads. Was looking today at the fate of clubs promoted from the National South since it was founded in 04/05. Couple of outliers in Wimbledon and Newport who never looked back and made it to the Football League. Of the more tra...

Re: The Non - League thread

Went to Basingstoke v Gosport Borough last night. A fairly easy 5-0 win for Basingstoke, although three goals in the last 10 or so minutes added extra sheen. Don't recall Gosport having an attempt on goal until a defence mistake by the B'Stoke left back with a few minutes to go forced a really good...

Glad B&T lived up to its billing. Pretty much top of my must tick list. Conversely went to Corinthian Casuals the other week and found it a bit a of disappointing venue for such an august club. Midlands non league football is a strange fish. Only Solihull in the Conference nowadays but as you sa...

Thwarted in my attempt to visit Hartley Wintney for the first time yesterday when their reserve game against Maidenhead United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Assume I'll have better luck on Tuesday getting a first new tick of the season at Slough.
