Re: New Website?

Received this email today from Ross Jeavons (rjeavons@readingfc.co.uk): Hello all, Just an e-mail to say thank you very much for the bits of feedback you have sent through regarding the new Reading FC Website. First of all, I apologise that it has taken a while to get a personal response from mysel...

Re: Team for Ipswich game

I thought Blakey and Matejovsky were on the same wavelength last night - they will add a new dimension as that understanding develops. I worry about the defensive frailties of the CM. It puts more pressure on the CBs and the GK, especially when Rosenior doesn't track back fast enough to prevent atta...

Re: STEPHEN HUNT - IS HIS TIME UP?

By the way, is the £5 million clause only applicable while we are in the CCC? Will it disappear once we get back? If it's still applicable after we get back there, I think the club may be more ready to negotiate. He signed the contract while we were in the Prem so I doubt it would be a 'CCC only' t...

Re: STEPHEN HUNT - IS HIS TIME UP?

He won't leave now. I don't think he's intrinsically worth £5 million but I do think he's important to our promotion campaign and that's worth more than £5 million. I'm not even convinced he'll go in the summer - not unless there's a mass exodus of the Irish contingent. We'll be back in the Premier ...

Re: Who gets the armband?

Harper - he's not leaving and I think he plays better when he has the [leg]band. BTW I don't remember seeing it on his leg last time he was captain. Has he been told it brings the honour into disrepute or something?

Re: injury/suspension situation

Pearce is very good but not the finished article - Doobs and Bikey would be the right partnership. Whereas Bikey IS the finished article???? Dropping Pearce after Tuesday's performance would be severly damaging to his confidence, and also a quite absurd decision. Agreed. But Bikey needs a Mr Reliab...

Re: injury/suspension situation

After Tuesday night I feel we can cope. If Coppell is consistent Ivar and Doobs will have to fight over which of them pairs with Pearce.

Re: STEPHEN HUNT - IS HIS TIME UP?

It could work either way - the selling club could tell the buying club that it was 'caveat emptor' and if they wanted to make such a late bid they take the risk on the player. I suspect there could be an issue with registrations though. The player has to be registered by midnight and can only be re...

Re: STEPHEN HUNT - IS HIS TIME UP?

Just to make sure no-one forgets, the closing of this transfer window is not 31st January because this is a Saturday. Closure, I believe, is not until 5pm on Monday 2nd February. I think that it is fair to say that no-one will offer £5m for shunt on the basis that he is not worth £5m. He may not be...

Re: How many points will it take?

Let's just go for 3 points every game and hopefully we'll be in the top 2 come May. That's all I care about. 3 points from every game and it would be a racing certainty. If we win every game, Birmingham can't overtake us and by tomorrow evening we'll be only 2 points behind Wolves. That would almos...

Re: Shane Long

Lita and Hunt would make reasonably acceptable subs and back up squad players. Providing we're doing reasonably well, Lita is quite likely to perform in the prem due to big gameitis. There you go again.. Opinion based on nonsense. Doyle 28 league games of 86 minutes each this season = 17 goals Hunt...

Re: How many points will it take?

If we got whatever 3rd got +1, then we'd only be 3rd... Shirley? But then 3rd would have been 4th! This really isn't difficult. Are there more women on here than I had previously thought, or something? Say we're 4th, and then get 1 more point than the team in 3rd, we'd be 3rd and they'd be 4th. Tel...

Re: How many points will it take?

I see I don't need to make the third point because Snowball is already being bludgeoned over his dense head with it. You beat me to it! We would have to lose some games quite badly not to have a better GD than a team on equal points. The only team close on GD is Wolves. I can see Reading and Wolves...

Re: Julian Kelly

I very much doubt he'll play the full 90 minutes. Will SC sub him with an old stalwart like Bryn or shuffle the pack to give Jay Tabb his first outing in a Reading shirt? Most likely I thought the OS said Tab wasn't eligible for the Wolves game? If (as looks likely) Coppel plays Kelly at right back...

Re: STEPHEN HUNT - IS HIS TIME UP?

Considering Noel plays an average of 60 minutes rather than 90 his record is amazing Average of 60 minutes? Coppell rarely makes subs before 70/75 so I have to doubt the accuracy of that one! Noel has been substituted early on more than one occasion due to injury including once when he was knocked ...

Re: Shane Long

When Shane Long first came to Reading he was very immature. He was easily bundled off the ball, and often fell over and allowed the tackler to get away while he feebly appealed for a free kick. In one way his performance has improved - he now makes a bigger exhibition of himself when he is disposses...

Re: Anyone Noticed Our run-in?

Can't see this coming into it at all. The only reason SC would leave SHunt out of the starting 11 / squad would be if SC didn't think Shunt was mentally prepared for the game. We don't need to sell SHunt - we are just bound by his £5million release clause. He might leave him out if he thinks (like ...

Will he be gone by then? or will SC keep him out to make sure he doesn't get injured?!

Without our Irish terrier, I'm not so sure that we will beat wolves.
