Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackpool (h)

PieEater Big crowd inevitably means we'll bottle it .

There's nothing to bottle. We could lose 6-0 and it wouldn't matter.

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 23/24

Top corner is unsavable but also maximum risk of row Z. That being said, I am surprised that professional footballers can't reliably find it. We're talking about the top 0.5% in terms of talent who are paid to practice. Surely any pro should be capable of leathering it into the top corner from 12 ya...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

"Party time"-we need at least a draw to stop Blackpool's outside chance of making the top 6 and possible promotion which would put paid to our party time fixture away there next season. So there is an incentive. The last thing we'd need to end the season with is a Blackpool pitch invasion...

Does this mean we've reached the stage where all representatives are basically agreed and we just need to get Dai involved to sign it off....?

What could possibly go wrong?

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The Selles comments in the local news underline just how important it could be to get the new owners fully committed in the next few weeks. The planning for pre-season and for contracts has already started. Possibly the most important thing the new owners will do is provide the guidance and backing...

Re: Weekend Football

The PGMOL also have some questions to answer if they knowingly used a VAR who supported one of the teams that had an "interest" in the result. I think they should sue Forest for defamation. These guys are professionals and it's ridiculous to suggest Attwell deliberately made Forest lose. ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

All shows that the side has been relatively inconsistent this side and are pretty much just as likely to beat a promotion chasing side as they are to lose to one about to get relegated. Feels like most sides in division are inconsistent. Few at top a bit better, few at bottom a bit worse, teams in ...

Re: FA Cup Changes

I think there is a disconnect between what execs and fans want. I always think of Wigan in 2013 who won the FA Cup and got relegated from the Premier League. Would I take that in a similar situation? Fcuk yes. You will never forget an FA Cup win, whereas what is the appeal to stay in the PL and have...

Re: Weekend Football

When I watch cricket and there is a review it happens quickly openly and whichever way it goes i do t mind but with VAR I just have an irrational hatred of the whole thing Also cricket is all about fine margins. Look at the size of the ball and how short the "pitch" is. Football has a big...

Re: Weekend Football

Those options likely to be some fairly hot water, given they've basically accused the VAR ref of being corrupt. Yeah that's outrageous. Hopefully a huge fine and their club account banned from social media posting. The PGMOL also have some questions to answer if they knowingly used a VAR who suppor...

Re: Weekend Football

Pretty much defines Antony's time at United that after the club lost a 3-goal lead to a second tier club, narrowly avoided defeat thanks to VAR, and then squeezed through on penalties, he is seen cupping his ears towards Coventry's players after the winning kick. https://twitter.com/MenInBlazers/st...

Re: FA Cup Changes

Could the EFL fight fire with fire and introduce more Carabao cup games? Say a couple of knock out rounds to whittle L2 and L1 clubs to 20. Then add in 44 Championship and PL sides and create 8 groups of 8 with a round robin stage, so 7 games each. Top 2 from each group qualify for last 16. Then las...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

Traditional wingers getting crosses in need bodies in the box to be effective. Today, most teams play 3 central midfielders and only 1 up front, as they want to compete for possession. That means the returns simply don't exist on traditional wing play. Of course you could try returning to 4-4-2, but...

Re: Weekend Football

I'm trying to think of a similarly embarrassing Reading win, but can't think of any because when we humiliate ourselves we do the decent thing and let the non League guys get the day in the sun their performance deserves. I guess is Utd do the impossible and beat City today will be forgotten....

Re: Weekend Football

Pre VAR, they used to talk about benefit of the doubt to the attacking team for tight calls, which this definitely was. But similarly, linesmen are taught to leave their flags down now as VAR can check afterwards, so perhaps he would have flagged without VAR. Of course he would as it was miles off!...

They're barely celebrating. They're embarrassed, as they should be. Saved by a 1mm VAR call.

City will smash them.
