Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The only really enjoyable seasons in the Championship for me were McGhee's time and Coppell,s-McGhee's because of the style and Coppell's for the style and the realisation that we had a team that would hold it's own at the top level. Would add the first season under Pardew to this after we got prom...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Now safety in L1 is pretty much guaranteed, I wonder how quickly the takeover will move. The expectation of EFL checks was 3 - 4 weeks (I think they mentioned this to STAR) and we're about 2 weeks in. What else is likely to be a deal breaker? I always thought the biggest threat on the buyers side w...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

They beat their own record after a couple of years as well didn't they? Having taken it off Fulham? Winners of Division 2 (2nd tier) since 1994 94-95 Middlesbrough - 82 95-96 Sunderland - 83 96-97 Bolton - 98 97-98 Forest - 94 98-99 Sunderland - 105 99-00 Charlton - 91 00-01 Fulham - 101 01-02 Man ...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Would be very happy with a season around/just outside the playoff places, regardless of whether we get in.
Have no expectations of promotion, just want to see us competing at the right end of the table again and hope we can keep things interesting up to the last few games.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Good to read the above exchanges, as it shows that there is nothing leaking out from the exclusivity process. We just have to let them get on with it and we will hear any news as and when. Hopefully the team can perform on the pitch and stay up, as I suspect relegation might cause a re-think from t...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I think this news is a likely explanation why the team started so badly on Saturday, they probably heard it shortly before. Whatever confidence they had was shattered. Why on earth would something they have no control over shatter their confidence? Lets say you rock into work thinking your efforts ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

The PL Everton decision is going to be very interesting. Feels like the local MPs, Liverpool mayor Steve Rotheram and Everton-supporting Manchester mayor Andy Burnham are desperately trying to sway the outcome. Does rather shine a dim light on what our locally elected bods are doing for us. Has Alo...

Maidenhead golf club just shows how long the process takes even when successful. That is part of an adopted local plan which the Council adopted in 2022, but had been working on since 2013.

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Surely it’d take years, loads of hassle and a lot of money for Yongge to make any kind of money from the stadium without a club in it and selling Bearwood for housing. Makes no sense really Indeed. Bearwood is not allocated for housing and is in the countryside, therefore would likely require an al...

Re: Sept International Break

Money (TV) talks so I would be surprised if the Cambridge game is called off. I had hoped that the rare bonus of League 1 being that the international break wouldn't apply-these postings have now depressed me. The Derby game that has been called off was slated for TV, so if the rules state players ...

Re: Summer 2023 Transfer Speculation

Would rather us show some patience and get the right player on rather than rush and get landed with someone useless. It’s a long, long season Sounds like the embargo nonsense prob cost us a couple of targets Exactly this. Would much rather sign the right players we need and be reconciled with us ha...

Was still slightly optimistic until Saturday, but I've been resigned to it since then so it's already sunk in.
If anything, a bit relieved that we don't have to go through the agony of Monday

Re: Rival Watch

Yeah, we needed someone to win that though. Draw would have meant we'd need 2 wins to bypass either.
A Rotherham win would have been preferable, but a Cardiff win is better than a draw

Re: Are you optimistic we'll survive?

I'm not sure what our restrictions will be but unless someone corrects me, our current restrictions put our outgoings among the bottom in the league, perhaps even very bottom, whereas next season, if we don't get relegated, I would hope our potential outgoings even with restrictions would let us mo...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h)

Would like to see us give it a go in the cup this year. The fact that right now we have a decent cushion to the bottom 3 and a decent sized squad with few injury concerns I think means we should put out a half-decent team tomorrow, resting only those who have played every minute recently. Added to t...
