Re: MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (a)

How was Azeez's goal? What were the two we conceded like? Caught Smith by luck just checking in now and then. Azeez's goal was great - hooking a bouncing ball high into the net. His run for the first was good as well and he hit the bar. He is on brilliant form at the moment. Their goals were a soft...

Re: Confirmed - Ejaria gone

In hindsight Ejaria (together with Aluko and Puscas) represented all that went wrong with the club over the last few Years; top money paid for an exciting prospect who didn't deliver and financially crippled us. Hopefully with his departure the club has turned the corner of having over paid and und...

Re: Confirmed - Ejaria gone

It's the best for the club, but still sad. He was a great player during the last season we weren't crap, and was part of the brilliant front four that Sky loved so much during Covid. I never saw him play badly for us. If you are a manager, you should get the best out of all your players. Why do Read...

Re: RIP Trevor Francis

Me too. As soon as I heard his name announced at 6:25 on Radio 4, I felt a sinking feeling and said something like "Noooooo." Anyway, what has surprised me in the potted bio they gave on the news was the claim that he was the first British million-pound player, so I googled and apparently,...

There are two truly awful things about the new kit. I can't decide which worse, the crown on the back or this from the website... "Let’s take a morning stroll over Caversham Bridge, before tackling the twists of Cemetery Junction, Dawn breaks, tired nurses flood Royal Berks wards, as somehow in...

When we lost on Monday, I thought even Shane Long would be ok for five games and better than Ince. Noel Hunt is a little better.

Re: BFTG/TV - M'bro H

I missed Wednesday, but heard all about it, so I was expecting a better performance than we gave, particularly in the second half when we gave the ball away so cheaply. What I wasn't expecting was the commitment, energy and passion from everybody. Ince was just phenomenal and Hendrick and McIntyre k...

Re: New GK

Southwood has been our best goalie this season. It's not by a huge margin, and he was playing better when he first got into the team than when he was dropped, but he was a bit better than a goalie who was responsible for three opposition goals in just 10 games, and didn't look as good at corners.

Re: George Puscas leaving?

[/b] Your personal opinion or fact? it`s the second tier of a major footballing nation so why should the standard be lower? Does the word ‘probably’ help ? I don’t think it’s especially controversial to suggest that English football has more depth of quality than other countries. Having said that e...

Re: Can we find 3 teams worse than us next season?

I'm hoping Coventry or Luton will revert to what we expected from them all along, Millwall will finally get the relegation their fans deserve, and an out-of-their-depth Rotherham can complete the set. With us in at worst 21st and FFP worries behind us, we can look forward to a summer 2023 of wasting...

Off the top of my head: Federici Araruna Joseph Mills Ferdinand Shipperley Meyler Guthrie Matejovsky Drenthe (captain) McIntyre Hiron I know that some of these players aren't the least skilful or talented we have had but, for example, any other goalie than Federici at Wembley or in the first week of...

Re: Paul Ince Whelmguage.

Getting somebody's Dad in on the cheap is as good as we could hope for, I suppose.

The thing is not to confuse the player with the manager, but it might be nice to have somebody bad at passing in charge who is a bit angry and wants all the younger players to call him, guvnor.

Re: Excitement v boredom.

We are OK. Apart from the Sheffield Utd and Blackpool games we have been competitive and I have enjoyed watching us. I came out of the Birmingham game thinking we had played well to take control and equalise and felt thoroughly entertained by the Barnsley win. I like it when we have possession and e...

Southwood is great, it was a brilliant goal, and I thought Azeez stretched the Barnsley the defence enough to forgive him for the miss. These are good times - we are seventh and playing nicely.

Re: BFTG - Boro Home

The red card has now been overturned on appeal. Great, so the only one of us who should have a scooby doo is completely wrong. What hope do the rest of us have if Paul can't call it right. Although I didn’t think much of his reasoning, it didn’t make me any less wrong either apparently. Football re...
