Re: On this day

Hmmm, doesn't ring a bell that one. This one does though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3htEY3IXmEc And as for today - it's all about that towering header. What a wicked day it was - proper warm as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki2ntdMBx-E "some of the nutters are on the field..."

Re: On this day

Also the day Peter Castle became our youngest ever 1st team player: http://hobnob.royals.org/matdoc/300403.html Here's an original idea never been done before. How many of this team would you take, at that time, for next season? Hahnemann, Brown, Watson (Campbell 79), Viveash, Shorey, Rougier (Cure...

Re: On this day

I'm sure that's the one - still the only game I've ever seen where that's happened. And let's face it, the first one wasn't injured apart from a bruised ego

Re: On this day

19 years ago today, Oxford 1 - 3 Reading. Well and truly exorcising the horror of our 1998 trip to the Manor. Enjoy some Absolute Scenes on Cuckoo Lane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpsFBw4ZdFM Possibly my favourite ever away day - absolute scenes with some comedic goal-keeping, so bad he was su...

Re: On this day

Ok, total hijack from today, but I thought all record of this had been buried under the SB toilets... https://youtu.be/f94UXc4rOYU?t=87 I'd forgotten just how bad wiggy was, but I do remember how poor flat-face was, which was a shame for a pro who'd done so well for us the previous seasons. Anyway, ...

Re: On this day

Old Man Andrews On this day in 1997 we drew 3-3 at home with Crewe. Carl Asaba on the scoresheet twice and an OG in our favour.

Carl Asaba is very underrated. I know he was inconsistent but I rate him.

Does anyone know what Bas Savage is up to these days? He was playing out in Thailand a few years back but seems to have dropped off the radar after TOT SC ceased to exist.

Who's his agent?

This smells like another kick-back "you ain't see me" type-deal a la Brian Tevreden appointed CEO at KSV Roeselare, a club the owners happen to own situation.

Re: I think I’m done - just can’t watch this lot anymore

My shout would be the 1999 team. August and Sept, April - May were horrifying. Do you mean the Bullivant relegation season of 97/98? Oxford away on 17 March 1998 remains my benchmark for apocalyptically bad Reading moments when you truly believe the club might totally implode. How does the current ...

Re: The Forgotten

Jimmy Crawford. I'm reading the Andy McLaren book, and it turns out he ended up on his couch after living in the hotel for a year. Andy makes a comment that he pretty much screwed up Jimmy's career. I'd completely forgotten about him. Knowing what Andy was up to at this time, along with his Jimmy's ...

Re: Constant Away Supporters in the Home End

Seemed to be a cluster up in the top right of the South Stand at least they weren't celebrating when we scored and seemed to be clapping when United did... A cluster - at least 75 approaching 100. They were proper celebrating as well - I couldn't resist a barrage of f u ck off's to some of those cl...

Re: Man Utd - back from the game

On the plus side, the first half was unlike anything I've seen us serve up to date. Ridiculous in a semi-good way. Utd were very suspect: Evans and of course Rapheal were appalling. One the flip side our defence has more holes than a sieve and the midfield the creativity of a snail. The exception is...
