Re: Next season

We'll be lucky to get 12,000 for a Tues night game in November against Blackpool if the season is not going well.

The plastics will be watching Man U etc in the champions league on sky.

Re: Keep the faith!

We'd only give them half the away end if promotion was riding on it

Re: On the positive side

For this season maybe.

But look at Charlton last season - looked a good bet up until mid Feb went on terrible run and missed out on even the play offs and now going down to league one.

Re: Charlton (h) score predictions

3-0 - Doyle x2, Bikey.

Reports from London suggest Parky was not impressed with the way they threw in the towel on Sat so he is thinking of putting in some fringe players.

Re: TARGET

Need to remember that Brum won't find it easy to average 2 points a game when they still have to play us, Wolves and Preston.

Re: Donny away

Not sure of the last time we played Doncaster away but last time I went was 1985/86 season. It was during the 13 win start to the season and we were outplayed for most of the game but nicked a winner on a break away through Mark White about 10 mins from the end. Doncaster had a really decent winger ...

Re: Plymouth Argyle MATCH THREAD sponsored by Andy Rogers and Mi

4 points from 2 away games when we've been behind in both is a decent return by anyone's standards and it soundfs like we've played well today. What is important now is that we follow up with max home points as both Cardiff and Brum now have 2 aways in a row. If we can win both this will put pressur...

Re: Plymouth Argyle MATCH THREAD sponsored by Andy Rogers and Mi

Not sure Marek is a good choice today - the pitch down there is worse than ours by all accounts.

Re: Odds to be top at end of season

The quoted odds will reflect the team's run ins as well as form etc - last season I cannot recall Reading being amongst the three favs to go down as we had on paper the easiest run in of the sides down there. I suspect the odds could change by the end of this month with Wolves playing Cardiff and Bi...

Re: Why Can't we play like Swansea ?

Swansea looked very good because Fulham let them play to a certain extent. I think in the next few weeks Swansea will start to find it much harder in the Championship as everyone knows more about them now and teams will start to flood the midfield and deny them space. Coppell admitted after we lost ...

Re: Was this the best game ever?

Think I agree about the Tranmere play-off game being the best particularly given the importance of it.

They won 20-odd home games that season as well.

Problem was in the home leg they kicked us off the park and several players carried injuries into the final which told late in the game.

Re: Champions, promotion, or by any means necessary?

Definately not the play-offs.

We're unlikely to win them and I'll be in Barbados when the final is played - football is not big there so would be difficult to watch the game.

After the last 2 finals and the way they were lost - no thanks.

Re: Nostalgia time - pix from the 78/79 Championship season

We had a good league cup run that year as well and outplayed Southampton at home but their keeper (Terry Gennoe?) had a blinder and it finished 0-0 and we lost the reply 2-0 which was my first away game - penned in at the Dell behind the goal. Good midfield in those days - Bowman and Sanchez and Shi...

Re: Games in hand

Actually think it's a good weekend to miss with the internationals midweek - think we would have struggled at Derby. Wolves will get a point at the most at Burnley & Birmingham could drop points as they are likely to have more players away midweek than Forest. They are playing with no confidence...

Re: Back from the game

It's not that bad - We have played most of the top sides twice now and have not got a bad run in.

Still think Birmingham & Wolves are main threat - Cardill have a lot of games to play and do not have stregth in depth so will fall away.

Re: Reading FC villains

We had some really bad players around 1971/72 season - not even division 4 standard - finished 16th that season.

Malcolm Swain? Martin James? Some really ropey 2nd keeper as well when Death was injured.

Re: Records in Trouble

I used to stand right behind the Tilehurst End goal in the 1970's and never saw Death light up during a game. Used to see him having a ciggie in Prospect Park after training though - think they all smoked in those days though.....
