2 world wars, 1 world cup Got Gomes in who kept us up.

The loan players did. Rolled the dice and up came 5 sixes.

Re: Howe out?

Since being reappointed as chief executive in December 2018 Nigel Howe has: Sacked Paul Clement as we were starting to show some form. Taken 3 weeks to appoint Jose gomes despite him having nothing on his CV to suggest he would be a successful championship manager. Employed a remarkably scatter gun...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Apparently his hobby is to be an Alan Shearer lookalike.

Traditionally every year Alan Shearer has won the annual Annual Alan Shearer lookalike competition, except for this year when he was soundly beaten by Bowen.

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Yep, already seen the "Bowen is lying" going around on Twitter. It's nice to see the average fan knows more about what's going on from outside the set up to someone who was right in the middle of it Well to be fair he might be. It's entirely possible he subtly put Gomes in a negative ligh...

Re: Mark Bowen Whelmgauge

Right. But it was West Ham. Who were a Championship club at the time, not a Premiership Club. But it's West Ham. As I said, it would be like Barnsley fans wondering why their managers' head was turned by Leeds. Then the release clause should have said West Ham too if it was that obvious. It wasn't....

Re: Mark Bowen Whelmgauge

Ah yeah, that was it. I remember being a bit partridge.gif about it at the time - would be like Barnsley fans complaining that their manager's head was turned by Leeds. Of course Pardew wanted to go - it was West Ham. Yeah the only thing I'd add to "and leaves" is that he just resigned be...

Re: Mark Bowen Whelmgauge

What did Pardew actually do again? Leave for a bigger club? Sign a lucrative contract in which he asked for a Premiership release clause, He then gets tapped up by a championship rival and leaves. This after telling at least one fan to their face that he's going nowhere. He also say's in his leavin...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Liking the sound of him so far. Our "know it all" Twitter experts can shut up whinging now As I said. It wouldn't matter a jot what he said, none of them will believe him, because they've already made their minds up. Yep, already seen the "Bowen is lying" going around on Twitter...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Yeah, sounds like he was surprised by it all - approached by the owners and was delighted to accept. Stresses several times he didn't instigate it at all. Till end of season. Gomes was pleased for him and even gave the owners a glowing reference of him when he was leaving. Had input on training grou...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

this appointment is about as uninspiring as when we announced Pardew, Coppell then McDermott were to be our manager. Never sure about Pardew at first, Coppell I have to disagree with, I was pleased when he was appointed. Did some good work at Crystal Palace. McDermott was one, like Pardew, I though...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

this appointment is about as uninspiring as when we announced Pardew, Coppell then McDermott were to be our manager. Rodgers excited me, as did Adkins, Clarke and Stam, all shit. Clement was just :|, as was Gomes. Erm. Coppell had me (and others) VERY excited and I for one blabbed on relentlessly h...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

So most people would rather the club spends £millions on some Billy Big Bollox manager with a big wristwatch getting him here, who may well be disappointing and then we have to spend £millions getting him out. Rather than someone who must be relatively cheap, easy to offload and worth a shot.

Re: Footballing philosophy

Does anyone know what Bowen's footballing principles are? He used the word 'pragmatic' in one of the (pretty poor actually) interviews on social media, as well as intensity and enthusiasm. Am I reading too much into this and thinking we will be more direct? I'd be interested in any thoughts on what...

Re: Mark Bowen Whelmgauge

Throughly whelmed. Dont support the hate on twitter despite how funny it is but do think it's a left field appointment that, if it fails, will make us look an absolute basket case of a club. Question: If Bowen gets us relegated will that make him one of the most hated firuges in our history? Nothin...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

So let me get this straight: Bowen had some team/formation input last season and our results improved, and then this season he didn't have any such input and we've been shit again? So the owners are thinking "okay this guy looks like he knows what he's doing, let's make him manager". Seems...

Re: Mark Bowen Whelmgauge

There will be lots of empty seats in the ED on Saturday. Like there isn't normally  Let’s put it this way. There will be even more empty seats than usual. MIght well be but I'd be surprised. New manager, intriguing appointment, itching to see what the owners saw in him. Will he make a couple o...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

haven't read the whole thread, so may have already been said. However, what if Bowen was actually much more influential behind the scenes last season than we all know. We seemed to do better after he joined, but that's partly due to Gomes getting his feet under the table as well. Maybe, just maybe,...
