Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

PL confirmed that 33 games will be available on free-to-air TV. Villa v Sheff Utd at 6pm and City v Arsenal at 8pm on Wednesday 17 June, both on Sky. Looks like Norwich v Southampton on Friday 19 June is the first free-to-air on Sky/Pick, with Bournemouth v Palace on Saturday 20 June on the Beeb. C...

Re: Championship to return

Current plan is for Sky to continue with plans to broadcast the contracted number of Championship matches (and indeed those games that were already picked for coverage remain so) - only change is that internal club coverage (like MUTV for example), which is normally asked to stand down for Sky game...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Meeting on Tuesday to decide the fate of L1 and promotion/relegation issues in L2. Idea gaining support at the moment is that the tables are calculated on PPG but then a statistical test is applied to take into account that the PPG can significantly change over the final 9 games. If any team is outs...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

This might be here already, but here's Steve Archibald's one game for Reading, v Huddersfield in 1992. He would have scored, had Trevor Senior not poked it over the line from about an inch out. Also, a Huddersfield player falls over taking a corner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgMjZE9rrqE Archi...

royalp-we 9 games in 32 days + Playoffs

Interesting* that the plan is for the final round of games to be midweek. Clearly hoping that something still has to be decided so going for "prime time" when I imagine there will be little to no PL games on.

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Oh come on. Wolfsburg at home to relegation threatened Frankfurt and .... bloody one-nil down already I hate football (until Wolfsburg come back to win, obviously) Update : 1-1 (don’t hate football as much  ) What about now  Haven’t really caught up with the Bundesliga too much but Wagn...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Macclesfield Town have been charged by the EFL on three counts: - Late payment of March wages - Failing to act with utmost good faith in respect of EFL matters - Breaching order, requirement, direction or instruction of the League Independent panel to take next steps. Methinks Stevenage will be saf...

Re: Rumour - Olise to Celtic

The club are hardly in a finanical position to turn down any decent bid at the moment - who knows what the transfer market looks like in the future but realistically an offer around 2m plus a sizeable % of sell on and he'll likely be off. Pretty much guaranteed a decent salary, titles and European f...

Re: The effect of the break

Will we be allowed 5 subs to help manage the playing load? Or is that a rumour? I think the break in routine and rhythm will have a negative affect on all teams; the teams who can adapt and reset quickest will do well. I'm interested in what this means for 20/21. If we finish at the end of July, do...

Re: The effect of the break

Impossible to tell but every team is in the same boat. Only target is to when the first game back. Games will be thick and fast, probably looking to play Sat, midweek, Sat and look to get regular season sorted in 4 weeks to allow play-offs to be done by end of July. New season to start first or seco...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Rumour currently is that the Championship will resume on Saturday 20th June. It’ll get interesting on 1st July when suddenly some players are no longer under contract though I suspect the authorities/players themselves may either allow contracts to be extended to the end of the season or just re-si...

Zammo It's back on June 17 8)

Feels a bit soon given the numbers in the UK but need to fix a date. Also guess they don't want to be left behind with most other major leagues playing, or about too.

Re: Biggest Reading FC injustices

We played Leeds away twice in the League Cup in 95/6 and again in 97/8. Both games now merge into one for me, one was where we made a temporary signing of the Tranmere keeper (Nixon?) on the day of the game. It wasn't a case of just one bad refereeing decision but a case of dreadful bias against us...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Scottish Premier League season ended, with Celtic crowned champions and Hearts relegated. Hearts are now considering taking legal action against the SPFL Broadly, for England too, I really don't understand why the promotion only model hasn't taken off. Is it really that difficult to make room for (...

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Interesting* stat from an admittedly very small sample but home teams lost a form of advantage this weekend in that refs seemed to be more balanced in the decisions they gave. On average before the lockdown, home teams on average got 15 more fouls awarded and the away team saw more cards. Could be a...

oxf*rd sake!!!!! That’s a shocking defeat. I think you need to consider your position on this messageboard. You know it makes sense. Meanwhile Gladbach go 2-0 up. 8) First one in 30 seconds Shocking first 10 from my lot. Looking a decent outside bet to get pulled into the relegation battle.

Re: The Bundesliga Hobnob battle thread 19/20

Old Man Andrews Football is crap like this. Would rather it didn't come back until everything went back to normal.

It's been fine I thought. Some decent games this afternoon, camera angles a little lower and think Sky had turned up the commentary in the mix. Barely noticed the lack of crowd.
