The Prisoner I used to live in Preston. Decent place. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Didn`t know they had a prison or borstal there. :D

Preston prison is right near the ground. I think visiting time must start at 2pm on a Saturday, as I have seen queues of people waiting outside on many occasions.

Re: Cup Draw

And just how the hell are Newport in the Northern section of the draw while Burton are in the Southern section? Newport placed in Northern section to avoid the possibility of them being drawn against West Ham, when both clubs had dispensation to play their tie away from home. Of course there is a m...

Re: matchwatch : reading v vitesse arnhem (at adams park, 3pm)

One of the pleasures of pre-season is visiting Mickey Mouse non-league clubs, so obviously a trip to Wycombe was a must. Bodvarsson was substituted at half-time. That meant he contributed exactly as much in the second half as he did in the first. Maybe his second half performance was actually slight...

Re: Season ticket info

We are still in the process of posting them out. We kindly ask that supporters bare with us until the 4th August. Let's see if I have this right - I and all other season ticket holders are asked to remain naked for 9 days (or until our card arrives if earlier). The club will show solidarity by doin...

Re: Getting to games next season

Last Thursday morning, the west side path was closed from Island Road to the Green Park junction. The newer section of the east side path that climbs up to run next to the road was also closed. But the east side path along Foudry Brook was open all the way. Not sure if any of the above might change ...

Re: How are you getting to Wembley?

Just been to the station to buy a train ticket. Note that no-one has told the ticket machines that Monday is a Bank Holiday, so you can't buy a ticket for tomorrow from a machine until after 3pm. Whilst I thought there would be no-one at the ticket counter at 8.30 am, there was actually a long queue...

Re: Play Off Final Tickets

Play off final allocations are always higher than for Fa cup games. Tbh I thought it might be a bit higher than that as I think we had 40k for Swansea, though that may have been because Swansea didn't sell out their allocation. It wasn't because of Swansea - the allocation for both clubs crept up s...

Note that when defending his article what he says is, "I'm an experienced journalist and I've won awards". Obviously, it didn't occur to him to try to defend it by examining what he'd written in the article.

Fulham's complete play-off record (worse than ours):
P5 W0 D2 L3 F2 A8
Apart from Saturday, their other games were against those giants Bristol Rovers and Grimsby.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Aston Villa (a) sponsored by prayer mats everywhere

Don't forget that Reading have won at Villa Park before - it wasn't against Aston Villa, but a 2-1 victory over Manchester United in an FA Cup second replay (from the days when second replays existed, and were played at a neutral ground). Reading also have a draw from an FA Cup tie against Aston Vil...

Re: Back from the game - Norwich

Hopefully kill this off before more people get things wrong. Reading first entered the FA Cup in 1877, and have entered every season since when the competition took place (there were some gaps during wartime). Some of those entries were into the qualifying round stage. None of the 91 other Premier ...

An FA spokesman said, "Liam Cooper was guilty of violent conduct. A standard punishment would clearly be insufficient, so he will now be suspended for Leeds United's next six defeats."

Re: Back from the game - Leeds (H)

I hate these crappy little clubs, just up from League 1 and heading back there soon. Lots of mouth in the week and treating a trip to Reading like their big day out for the year. But then all they do is sit back and defend, their only idea being to hoof it to a cart-horse up front. Add in some clogg...

After a considerable amount of trawling of the Internet I've found out that the crowd that day was apparently 1,943. Funny, I don't remember it actually being that big! :o I believe this very site says that it was 1,713 so you may be right in your recollection. The 1713 was the figure quoted at the...

Chances of a Huddersfield stream? http://road.cc/sites/default/files/styles/main_width/public/images/News/Huddersfield%20Narrow%20Canal%20(image%20CC%20licensed%20by%20Tim%20Green%20via%20Flickr).jpg?itok=zZcAR4GO That's not helpful at all. The poster clearly asked for a stream, not a canal.
