Re: Record Watch 2017/18

I wonder if any of the Wolves lurkers have ever attended a home play-off semi-final second leg, bringing along a ready-made banner slagging off their own team?

Oh yes:

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

I like to think that Derby County have a Record Watch thread on their board, where every season they hope that this time someone will beat their impressive record. And every year, no-one even comes close. This season it's early December and the best they can hope for is a tie, even after a very prom...

Re: 6,000 League goals - FAO Strap

I'm about to kill my own thread (mostly). The incorrect 5,000 announcement was the Darius Henderson goal against Wycombe. The Dirk Gently recalculation gave 5,000 to Williams instead. Assuming that the all-seeing database also agrees on 5,000 then it's pretty likely that 6,000 will prove to be corre...

6,000 League goals - FAO Strap

Swift's first v Nottingham Forest deemed to be Reading's 6,000th league goal. Does your database agree?

I ask because the club still says Adie Williams v Wycombe was 5,000, and I thought that had been disproved by Dirk some time ago. Also, do the 1939/40 games count or not?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Middlesbrough (h) sponsored by fat ladies being asked about their availability

Personally I'd play Smith instead of Beerens and bring Yann on for the last 20-25 mins or so. Whatever, just DO NOT play ALUKO or BEERENS in the centre and start Popa (preferably in place of Aluko or Beerens). Guess we know what Stam will do then  Spot on. Frankly Stam's selections are now la...

Re: Matchwatch : Colchester United (a) sponsored by a general lack of interest in the media

Cheers Mr C. Don't suppose there's any chance of your great site being resurrected?! Not any time soon, I wouldn't have thought. However, I do have a vague plan for a website on a (non-football) Reading topic. If I ever get round to sorting out webspace and publishing software then I'd expect to du...

I reckon we should move to 9pm instead. None of this pussyfooting around with 15 minutes here or there.

The Prisoner I used to live in Preston. Decent place. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Didn`t know they had a prison or borstal there. :D

Preston prison is right near the ground. I think visiting time must start at 2pm on a Saturday, as I have seen queues of people waiting outside on many occasions.

Re: Cup Draw

And just how the hell are Newport in the Northern section of the draw while Burton are in the Southern section? Newport placed in Northern section to avoid the possibility of them being drawn against West Ham, when both clubs had dispensation to play their tie away from home. Of course there is a m...

Re: matchwatch : reading v vitesse arnhem (at adams park, 3pm)

One of the pleasures of pre-season is visiting Mickey Mouse non-league clubs, so obviously a trip to Wycombe was a must. Bodvarsson was substituted at half-time. That meant he contributed exactly as much in the second half as he did in the first. Maybe his second half performance was actually slight...

Re: Season ticket info

We are still in the process of posting them out. We kindly ask that supporters bare with us until the 4th August. Let's see if I have this right - I and all other season ticket holders are asked to remain naked for 9 days (or until our card arrives if earlier). The club will show solidarity by doin...

Re: Getting to games next season

Last Thursday morning, the west side path was closed from Island Road to the Green Park junction. The newer section of the east side path that climbs up to run next to the road was also closed. But the east side path along Foudry Brook was open all the way. Not sure if any of the above might change ...

Re: How are you getting to Wembley?

Just been to the station to buy a train ticket. Note that no-one has told the ticket machines that Monday is a Bank Holiday, so you can't buy a ticket for tomorrow from a machine until after 3pm. Whilst I thought there would be no-one at the ticket counter at 8.30 am, there was actually a long queue...

Re: Play Off Final Tickets

Play off final allocations are always higher than for Fa cup games. Tbh I thought it might be a bit higher than that as I think we had 40k for Swansea, though that may have been because Swansea didn't sell out their allocation. It wasn't because of Swansea - the allocation for both clubs crept up s...

Note that when defending his article what he says is, "I'm an experienced journalist and I've won awards". Obviously, it didn't occur to him to try to defend it by examining what he'd written in the article.

Fulham's complete play-off record (worse than ours):
P5 W0 D2 L3 F2 A8
Apart from Saturday, their other games were against those giants Bristol Rovers and Grimsby.
