Re: Ian Harte hits out at negative nobbers

The formation change has impacted on an upturn in defensive performances not Ian Harte. I wonder if Shorey would have benefited from that extra midfield cover in the same way as Harte has instead of spending all season covering most of the left side of the pitch on his own. In these 3 games we have...

Re: Anton

You lot make me sick. First it was all, "we're on the gravy train now", then someone moved the goalposts, and now you're starting to extend deadlines on AZ's behalf. You're even overinflating the transfer fees, where the oxf*rd do you guys get off doubling the sums to some imaginary figur...

Re: Back from the game - Swansea

McDermott just can't get this balance between attack and defence. The simple reason WE ARE SHIT. The first 11 as a whole are just not good enough. McDermott still managed to get it wrong. Guthrie is not an attacking mid (Deep lying play maker). Federici- I've been his biggest critic and I don't lik...

Re: Danny Graham?

The problem is, you're both looking at academies historically, and not considering the future....(although given that Pearce, Karacan, Siggy, McCarthy and more are all products of our academy I'd argue that it's been pretty productive in recent years anyway). EPPP is starting to ramp up, and the fu...

Re: Manchester City vs Reading *Match Thread* Sponsored by 4

Barry's movement impedes Shorey. It's a foul. It would take a far braver ref than Dean to award it though. I'd say we can be forgiven for feeling hard done by. What do you mean brave???? FFS its a foul and even Barry thinkis it might have been. Brave??? It his feckin' job. I totally agree. I wasn't...

Re: Manchester City vs Reading *Match Thread* Sponsored by 4

He's right. We were massively outclassed and nearly got a point. How shit is that?? Playing like that we will pick up more points this season. It may be too late though. OK, but what is your viewpoint on that as a tactic? Their side cost £207m, so they were bound to outclass us. However, it was our...

Re: Manchester City vs Reading *Match Thread* Sponsored by 4

Momentum doesn't mean its not a foul. Football is still a contact sport though! or am I missing something...Barry is in mid air...he has 2 options...duck out of the header and try and avoid colliding with Shorey (to not upset a few Reading fans!!)...or try and head the ball towards goal (winning th...

BraisingsteakRoyal Everyone is w@nking over how well we did - we had 10 men behind the ball for the entire game. How many saves did Joe Hart make?

Hint: It's none.

You are joking? Right?

Re: 3 Years Ago - McDermott's first game against Bristol Cit

Just here to +1 those sayinng I'd rather have the Team from that day than the one we have now. No you wouldn't. You'd take Sigurdsson, Long and Bertrand, but the rest are either still here or no better/worse. All that does is highlight to me that three very good signings in January could make the d...

Re: Arsenal: Back from the procession

I often wonder, is it me that needs to be realistic or the club? It's you that needs to be realistic. We can't spend money we don't have. Why did JM sell to TSI? To keep Kebe, sign Roberts, Gunter, Marriappa, McLeary, Shorey, Guthrie & Pog? That's not taking the club to the next level, if that ...

Re: Arsenal: Back from the procession

No point commenting on the game, everybody knows what our deficiencies are in the middle of the park and the lack of confidence around the place condemned us before we’d even got started. However, in amongst the dying embers of our Premier League status, I did see the faintest spark of something bet...

Re: We Move On

Mocking the bloke is a bit much tbh. Over a decade of good service and some recent very decent achievements. This 100%. Took an average squad to the brink of promotion and then an arguably worse one to the Championship title. In the summer it was a case of spend tens of millions and start again or ...

Re: How Long Will BM Last at this rate?????

I will always love Brian, and what he's achieved at Reading, he could move on to become manager of Aldershot, and I'd still shake his hand. But... Tonight was one of ther most tactically inept performances I've ever seen. Ripped to pieces time and time again by, this season's standards, a very aver...

Re: How Long Will BM Last at this rate?????

Starting to think Brian will not be sacked now which in effect 100% confirms relegation. It is plain to see that Anton doesn't actually have the money we thought he did so sacking Brian and paying up his contract would be costly business. Better to keep him and sign a few free transfers in he summe...

Re: Brian's Press Conference today

If ever there were a victim of circumstance, it's Brian McDermott. That's not to say he hasn't made some mistakes along the way (first season in managing the PL and only his third season managing a league team though), but if he gets the sack, he'll be taking one for the team. Deserves to keep his j...

Re: Danny Guthrie - Refusing To Travel

Why do people assume footballers are any different to the rest of us? If your boss gave 2 far less able employees your duties and relegated you to the backroom in whatever field you work in, then you'd have the hump as well. At the end of the day, Reading FC are just his employer- why should he fee...

Re: Danny Guthrie - Refusing To Travel

As always in situations like this, the legacy of it will be determined by what happens next. He has apologised and been fined two weeks wages (perhaps the club might use that money to make a gesture to the hardy fans who travelled to Sunderland?), which is the correct thing to do. Brian now needs to...

Re: Guthrie reception threat/poll

Agree with Zac. If he's involved, it means him and McDermott have sorted out their problems, in which case, support him. It's in everybody's interests to get Guthrie playing and playing well.

However, I don't think he will be involved and I think he'll get roundly booed if he is.

Re: Where's the catastrophe?

Can someone kindly point out where the catastrophe is please? Even on BBC Berks everyone is acting like there's some sort of catastrophe (apart form Guthrie the imbecile which I agree with)... In case it's escaped everyone's attention, every year three teams go down. That's what happens. not necess...
