Re: Finance

Yeah I know I miss the bleeding obvious but those staffing levels look ridiculously high.Aside from match day staffing.Sixty odd players ? I suppose a lot of that number are “students”;amongst which historically golden nuggets have been few and far between.Coaching and admin staffing levels are als...

Re: Finance

I see Star have done their usual, thing of getting someone who knows what they are talking about to look at the accounts and give their view (fair chance it is someone who has already posted). Presents a rather less apocalyptic view of things which is nice. While I think everyone would prefer it if ...

Re: Royal Elm Park

There's something slightly weird in the accounts of one of the companies associated with RFC and the REP development. The Thais have pledged the shares to RFC Propco to someone as security for a loan. The loan has been defaulted upon and therefore someone other than the Thais now own the shares! The...

Re: Finance

Personally, I'm not ok with cicumnavigating the rules, or running up ludicrous debt. Except we don’t have any meaningful debt (the sort that gets you wound up by HMRC) and we’ve not circumvented rules. If we had circumvented them we would be in trouble. We’ve found ways to organise our finances so ...

Re: Championship group administration possible ???

As others have already noted, this is total tosh. I work in the insolvency space. Couple of obvious flaws in the plan. Owners cannot necessarily buy the club and its assets back. The Insolvency Act doesn't allow that to happen. The clubs would have to marketed to ensure the administrators achieve th...

Re: Finance

We just lost £40m in a season Howe was mostly in charge. And in the follow up season didn't lose many players and made some crazy spending. If 18/19 was £40m, even without corona there's no way 19/20 would be anything other than tens of millions of loss again. There's a decent chance 18-20 could se...

Re: Championship group administration possible ???

I really hate the FFP rules. Ensures that today’s rich clubs stay that way. Much prefer the ability to put into a club whatever a founder wants, but it’s as capital, i.e. non-refundable. One additional proviso is that the funding must cover the full extent of contracts, e.g. a 5 year player deal mu...

Re: Finish the season, in 56 days?

2 weeks for playoffs, so 40 - 45 days for 9 games. Perfectly doable Scrap the play offs altogether and have promotion decided simply by league position. yep, 3 up 3 down Play-offs are just there to add a bit more interest at the end of a normal season to reduce the number of dead games in the last ...

Re: Finance

Thing is a one off pardon won't help. At Reading it is now a cultural problem. Sign too many players. Sign too many not very good players. Pay them too much. Repeat. What makes us think anything will change. Why did we sign new players in January who did not improve the team, and have therefore not...

Re: Finance

Well no Gourlay is certainly a start. I dont think we are in a terrible position going forward tbh. Be interesting to see what this years accounts would look like, but obvs we've got those years of losses hanging over us still We'll see what happens after this Covid mess comes to some sort of concl...

Re: Finance

When we spunked all that money on Ejaria and Puskas i said it was mental and that we couldnt afford it. A number of people said i was being a killjoy and should just learn to enjoy football as a releif. Some of those same people now have a 6 page thread on how the finances are screwed. Anyone cheer...

Re: Finance

Selling Moore does make sense but it leaves us very short at centre back because I cannot see how we could afford another loan of Miazga unless Chelsea pay his wages. That leaves us with Morrison and McIntyre. The latter is good enough but does pick up his share of injuries. I think Osho’s contract...

Re: Finance

Need to remember a 40m loss is not necessarily a 40m FFP loss. That should be considerably less. Can you expand on this Stranded. I don’t know the ins and outs of all of this. There is quite an extensive list of allowable losses that are not included in the calc - I don't have the full list to hand...

Re: Rival Watch

They won the Fairs Cup in 68 and 71 but that just reinforces that their "history" is basically Revie and not a lot else. Of 7 major trophies won, 6 were under Revie. Of 12 major cup finals reached, 10 were under Revie and 1 was in the season after he left. didn't know that. Just goes to s...

Re: Finance

Moore being given a bumper contract for being refused permission to go to Brighton is looking absolutely insane now. How much must he be on? £30k a week? More? We could have got £8m for him, instead we've paid out how many to him? Mannone was reportedly on big money. Aluko will have been on a huge ...

Player trading

I'm after a favour. I know some of you keep spreadsheets about things like this so I thought I'd ask first rather than recreate the wheel. Can anyone furnish me with a list of our player trading (split between summer and winter transfer windows and in/outs) as follows: 17/18 season 18/19 season 19/2...
