Re: Buyout

daddy's money was used to fund the initial purchase, but AZ had to find the rest to "prove" himself to daddy that he's a "serious" businessman. AZ failed, hence no purchase of the remaining 49%. AZ is done at Reading FC, and there's no money coming from any source in Russia. We w...

Re: McCarthy to Newcastle?

When watching Fraser Forster play for England against Chile, I thought his distribution was no better than McCarthy's, and at 6'7" he didn't look as agile as McCarthy. McCarthy gets down exceptionally well for a big guy

Re: BFTG - Blackburn (a)

Obita was beating men yesterday but being left isolated by the rest of the team and surrounded by 3 or 4 more players as he was the only one near them to mark. Fair enough - my comment was based on his displays at home. Looks talented, but always seems to want to play the Beckham ball (ie bend it a...

Re: It's nearing that time again !

peterroyal76 Played centre half for Wales this season and did alright.

tbf - most international teams don't play as much long ball or physical football as the average Championship team. But point taken.

Re: BFTG - Blackburn (a)

Who ever plays on the wings, they need to take a man on and get to the byline. Jimmy stopped doing that last season, McCleary doesn't do it often enough and Obita rarely beats a man (albeit only based on limited home game viewings). Matt Philips and Junior Hoilett were good examples of how our winge...

Re: Buyout

Williams played a half yesterday though, and he was a Samuelson signing. Perhaps his bonuses aren't as big as Drenthe's (who conveniently picked up another knock in training according to the OS).

Re: It's nearing that time again !

Gunter at centre-back? Now that is funny-imagine him ducking out of the way when he is meant to be heading the ball away. Though I generally think Gunter has done OK so far this season, for someone who is 5'11", he is shocking in the air. However, he probably won't miss any more headers than A...

Re: Meeting Reading players

Totally forgot - Lawrie Sanchez was the football coach at Reading Uni for one season when I was there. He was in the process of taking his coaching badges and getting experience. Totally grim training sessions - didn't get to touch a football until 15 minutes before the end of a 2 hour session

Re: Meeting Reading players

Bryn at Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, while his daughter was having swimming lessons at the same time as my son. Quick chat but quite quiet. Harps in TGI Friday on my son's birthday about 6 years ago - he was happy to have his photo taken Mass Sarr - awarded him MoM on his debut. My company was matc...

Re: Buyout

That's why he's around the club all the bloody time, because he's lost interest. Of course the poor bloke has lost interest - he never was particularly a "football" bloke anyway. He wanted out, he's getting on now - I don't blame him one bit for wanting to sell up and have a bit of retire...

Re: Team for Blackburn

Time to try McAnuff as a left wing back? Would offer more going forward than Kelly, and did a pretty decent job playing left back for most of last season covering Harte & Shorey

Re: Buyout

SJM needed to sell a stake to fund some of his other business operations. He is now relaxed about what is happening as his immediate cash flow problems were resolved by AZ's cash. AZ is complete history and won't be seen at RFC again - apparently his dad gave him the money for the first tranche and...

Re: Latest Conspiracy - Drenthe future in doubt

Williams and Drenthe were brought in by Samuelson in the summer. NA didn't want either - his only signing was Bridge. NA is now not rushing them back as they are not his players. I am led to believe the new contracts for HRK and Pearce are not as exhorbitant as many people think. NA also wanted Legs...

Re: on my way BFTG: Millwall H

Thought Millwall's tactics were pretty obvious from the outset. Abdou was never more than 5 yards from Guthrie throughout the first half, while their no 10 picked up all the loose balls. Adkins should have made a tactical change much earlier. When he did, in the second half, it was hard to understan...
