Re: BFTG Forest

Strangely I thought they weren't that good - however second half they just played through us - the number 7 stood out. Which shows how poor we were. Agreed. Thought they were quite pedestrian in their build up play.- Interestingly we got back into the game once they substituted Chaleobah (no 7). La...

Re: Why can't we create?!

Don't forget though that the defence gets no protection from its midfield now that we are without Ledge, Jem and Baird. And no-one tracks runners. We have conceded a lot of goals this year and last with opposition midfielders picking up the pieces in our box after the defenders / keeper have done re...

Re: Le Fondre - Come and get me plea

I reckon that if he goes it won;t be until deadline day. We'll make sure Pog doesn't go first and assess the options on Sharp (financial constraints) before letting him go anywhere. I'm a little surprised that Samuel hasn't made the match day squad more often this season. During the summer, all the ...

Re: Atmosphere

Thought the Y25/26 mob did a pretty good job in the first half up until the goal. North Stand was morose today (I sit there). Really poor effort from Y19 to Y22. Did a great job of not turning up and supporting the team today. yeah the weather was awful and we've been playing like dross lately, but ...

Re: BFTG Forest

I said 1st half was a dead heat (which IMO it was). They were better than us 2nd half but right at the death we came back at them. To suggest they are the best team to visit us this season is weird IMO. They weren't that good at all & looked marginally less toothless than we did. I'm with you o...

Re: Nick Blackman Appreciation Thread

Agreed. Have always thought he had potential. Has a good touch and gets the ball under control quickly and looks comfortable with the ball at his feet. Looked our quickest player as well today. I'd be inclined to play him more as a second forward, playing off Pog but happy for him to be on the wing ...

Re: Le Fondre - Come and get me plea

Could have been Sharp's last game today - think his loan spell has now ended. I thought Sharp was really poor today. He looked incredibly slow too. At one point in the first half, he was chasing Lascelles in the box right in front of my section of the North Stand and Lascelles, dribbling with the ba...

Re: Parachutes

If it is this simplistic does this mean I am the only one who doesn't get a free ST then ? IIRC income in the last Champioship season was around 15m. Assume this is about the same for this year too including all ST, TV, sponsorship and match day income. Add 16m of parachute and we get to 31m or so ...

Very fortunate club to have an owner who keeps piling in the cash. FFP will be a problem though

Re: The Adkins Sack/Resignation Countdown Thread

The defence is a MASSIVE problem however, as is us missing a decent holding midfielder Agreed - should not have resigned Pearce, but presume they knew Mariappa was going to go throughout the summer. A second left back (even if it was Shorey, Harte or Joseph Mills would have been better than what we...

Re: The Adkins Sack/Resignation Countdown Thread

BaldOne - I think you answered your own point to a large extent re: Drenthe and Williams. Not required and weren't players Adkins wanted in the summer. Bridge - good player but we've been unfortunate with his injuries. He played virtually every game last season for Brighton. Baird - only brought in ...

Re: Malky Mackay?

Point remains, only a complete idiot or shyster would want to come to RFC the way it is currently being run by Anton and Madejski. Furthermore, few of that list have anywhere near as good a past record as Adkins. Think managers are becoming as mercenary as players these days. Take a 2-3 year contra...

Re: The Adkins Sack/Resignation Countdown Thread

I like the overall concept of Adkins. He got Southampton playing some decent stuff but it was, from what I remember (I'm not an avid follower of Southampton FC), very much of a case of we will outscore the opposition and not built from sound defensive foundations. Problem is, he doesn't have the pla...

Re: Malky Mackay?

List of alternatives - all without a club Steve Clarke - great coach, probably work well with NH as DoF Martin Jol - too high profile for us Ian Holloway - great value, and gets his players playing for him Di Matteo - wouldn't stoop this low Glenn Hoddle - wanted Spurs, but probably not interested M...

Re: Buyout

Has the thought crossed anyone else's mind that Antin isn't necessarily finished at the club? It's been interesting to see how a lot of people have taken the SJM interview and focused on the "not got access to Anton's diary" element, but have missed where he said "I'm not concerned a...

Re: Buyout

If Omani investment is true (and I have no reason to believe it is or isn't) then I think it does explain a lot about the fixture earlier in the season. I personally thought it was a bizarre opposition at the time and wondered if there was more to it, but didn't put two and two together at the time....

Re: Buyout

I'd settle for someone who shows an interest in the club, community, and the development of our own talent; keeps the club running on sound business principals; and provides funding at opportunistic times that takes the club to a different level. Don't need some mega rich despot to completely chang...
