Re: CONFIMRED - Charlie Adam

First few minutes, played No. 10. Used his experience well, avoided the Hollywood ball and played very neat stuff. Remainder, played deeper and pumped Hollywood pass after pass to Wednesday or into touch. But did wipe out their striker brilliantly (and fairly). Also out in a very nasty looking chal...

AthleticoSpizz Give the kid a fair crack (remember those early Habsi days?).

One thing that RFC always tends to have is decent keepers...eventually

AAH was signed as a back up to the newly signed Jonathan Bond, iirc. That went well. Highly rated U21 international without much experience.

Re: Free away travel

Is that going to be a pattern for the whole season ? What with Delboyrodders goingi to meltdown because he hadn’t got his ST a month beforehand the season and now you worrying about tickets for a game 3 weeks away that we will still be selling the day before the game. Anyone worried that they’ve no...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday (h) sponsored by new season optimism

They're talking about the championship on Talksport just now. They picked 5 clubs to talk about and at the end, Jason Cundy said what about Reading? I saw them play on Sunday and I was really impressed with how they passed the ball through the middle and that we've made some good signings. He expec...

Ascotexgunner 3pts nothing less for us. Im confident we are going to surprise a few people who are tipping us to struggle this season.
Loader hat trick, Swift brace 5-0 easy!

Re: David Meyler - Reading's biggest ever mercenary?

Clearly something went awry for him. I think the gaming stuff probably did have some impact on him and perhaps meant he wasn't as committed to football as he should have been. While it may not have been a specific distraction, it may have been a contributing factor as well. Alternatively, it could h...

Re: Where will we finish?

If our keeper isn’t riding high in the ‘saves made’ tables might it be because our defence is allowing the opposition fewer shots. Saves made always seems to me to be measure you want to be lower rather than higher.... Agreed. A mean defence is good for a goalkeeper. We want to concede a few shots ...

Re: CONFIMRED - Charlie Adam

If we’re being generous then I think we can say Adam hasn’t had the benefit of a full pre season. He looked “chunky” in the Marc McNulty fashion. Felt sorry for Ryan East having to do the work of two players

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Popa is an odd one isn’t it? Haven’t seen anything anywhere about him being involved in pre season. I’d not be too disappointed if Gunter and McCleary end up back in the squad My lad sort of knows Tom Holmes (they have some common friends) and he said about a month ago he didn’t know what was happen...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

first impressions is I like the new home kit. Actually think sponsor logo fits in really well. Much better than the women's one, which is dreadful.

Away kit - would have preferred solid red hoops rather than the funny graphic greyish ones

Stranded
At the moment, scoring 1 a game looks like it may be challenging so clean sheets are going to be vital.

Absolutely this. Aiming for a 46 point season I reckon.

Re: Ex Players

He was 22 had made 120something league apps and was certainly bought by his former manager to play as a striker. You need to bone up on the greatest ever premier league striker. In any case, one exceptional exception proves nothing. Midfielders in midfield. Attackers in attack. Defenders in defence...

don't get it having signed Morrison. Can't believe any of Moore, Morrison or Miazga will be happy being 3rd choice

Re: Matt Miazga

just can't see it happening. surely Morrison would have been given assurances he will be first choice here prior to signing? he had a contract offer from brum albeit 1 year compared to our offer of two. He was a stalwart for them, and a first name on their team sheet. Why would he choose to turn th...

Re: CONFIMRED - Michael Morrison

I would imagine part of the process at the moment is to look at a long list of players that are out of contract and agree between all the relevant parties whether a player could be of benefit to the team. I’d rather take MM on a free than pay £5m for Pontus Jansson. I appreciate free transfers aren’...

Re: CONFIMRED - Michael Morrison

Solid if a little unspectacular. One of my BCFC supporting colleagues reckons he’s decent on the ball. Miazga wasn’t exactly Beckenbauer. Handy source of goals too.
