Re: Next Manager

Just a quick question but does anybody know if Mark Bowen has links to Kia Joorabchian i.e. does he retain him as an adviser/agent? wouldn't be surprised. Hughes obviously had his links In terms of being a stitch up - maybe. On the other hand, Howe may well have been very impressed actually seeing ...

Re: Next Manager

With Bowen now at odds of 1/12 - that would tell you its a done deal. Nearest is Sherwood at 12s. Tell you what, he must rate himself and got a magic wand because he has put himself under an enormous amount of pressure from the get go. Executioner turned manager rolled into one. Good luck with that...

Re: Next Manager

Yep. Bowen probably likely to be caretaker if he hasn’t appointed himself full time this week for Preston I imagine

Re: Manager v luck etc

Gomes had a fair share of 'luck' personally last year. The two key games for him were Ipswich (a) - where they missed an absolute sitter in the last min, and Wigan (h) where we played really poorly and came out with 3 points - partly due to Wigan utterly switching off on a drop ball I think it was....

Re: Next Manager

Did spot via the TE site that Bowen was apparently close to the Swansea job He might be alright, certainly had plenty of time to learn the job as Hughes assistant I certainly wouldn’t be throwing the toys out the pram about it, but not particularly excited by it. Though as mentioned elsewhere, not b...

Re: Congratulations, you are the new Reading manager

Well it’s true I suppose. But then it completely misses anything about the rest of their abilities. Like the fact they can’t defend for shit

Re: Next Manager

Bowen would certainly be a very unpopular choice. I’d be very surprised that’s the way it goes

Plenty of experience as an assistant but coming in as the main man into a champ club would be a big ask. Presumably he’d bring along the old Hughes coaching team

leon
URZZZZ George managing to do for Romania what he can’t do for us :x

I’m watching the game. Romania were playing like Reading and Puscas has barely had a kick.

Yeah they did a bit

Nice run and finish for the goal though

Re: Next Manager

Old Man Andrews
Royalwaster Well looks like it won't be Ainsworth:

Might prompt us to make a move.

Gareth Ainsworth is a top manager, would be very welcome here.

You want Ainsworth OMA? Should have said

Re: Next Manager

I don't want a pcunt, I don't think that works for long. I'm not bothered by getting a nice guy, but if it's a nice guy they've got to actually be good, not just interview pleasantly and talk a good game. Was Sir Alex a pcunt in your view? I'd certainly argue he was I imagine the likes of Keane and...

Re: Next Manager

Cesare Prandelli sneaking into the betting now. and instantly slagged off as a shit journeyman on twitter  Can't see this has any legs tbh. Looks like he has basically been semi-retired since 2014. Slightly more concerned by the apparent enthusiasm for him from our Twitter friends Getting to t...

Re: Next Manager

slightly surprised that Daniel Stendel hasn't got more of a mention actually. Would seemingly fit the bill fairly well - being available, good career record so far, but not being a massive shift from the Gomes type model

Re: Manager v luck etc

I'm not sure how Stam was lucky tbh. We had a good keeper who made plenty of good saves and a clinical striker. Its not like we got loads of dodgy decisions or anything like that.

We were rigid, dull and ultimately found out. But not lucky

Re: Next Manager

Stanage how noone is mentioning Gareth Ainsworth. Managed Wycombe since 2012 and done well considering virtually no budget. Won a promotion from League couple seasons ago and his side are currently 2nd in League 1 which considering how many big teams are there is nothing short of a miracle. Maybe b...

Re: Next Manager

This might be neither here nor there, but haven't Sky Sports just signed him up on a nice contract? Would we have to pay it out? I think like with Neville previously, there would be a release clause in the event of a club coming in for him Saw some article saying that one of the reasons he si...

Re: Next Manager

If the board are seriously considering hiring Roy Keane and to a lesser extent Mark Hughes it would suggest to me that the players have been taking the piss a bit or the previous management gave them too much rope. Lack of discipline perhaps? quite possibly. Obvs its only speculation at the moment,...

Old Man Andrews Paul McShane finds his level by signing for League 1 Rochdale.

yeah good for him. Was surprised he didn't find a club sooner tbh. Should do a solid job there

Re: Next Manager

Interesting that Bowen has gone right out very quickly. Hughes back to favourite. Roy Keane? Maybe. Be a gamble but yeah there is a bit of me that would like to see it. It might work Won Sunderland promotion having taken them over as the bottom placed club - so has shown it can turn around a shoddy...
