Re: Coronavirus outbreak

I fear the worst case will be economic melt down, social unrest and whilst flattening the curve a little now, its only storing it up for later in the year Almost a steady stream of cases over the next 12 months might be the least worst option. And I suppose to do that you would enforce some restrict...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

state of play: flu deaths this winter (so far) = 109,000 (no lock down, no panic and happens every year ) Corona virus deaths (so far) = 14,700 (lock down, massive panic, destroying world economy, one off event ) +1 Not worth the recession that’s coming, people are stupid. I fear you are right. Fra...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

I didn't make any comment other than it affects older and those with underlying conditions a lot more.

Yes it will affect all of us significantly one way or another. My old man ticks every single box for being at risk, so yes its very scary

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Is it possible to disable the font size feature for Snowball? Bloody hell man, stop using it And those death rate stats are utterly pointless being as it takes no account of the many people who have had it, recovered, and not been tested. Its pretty much standard thinking its around 1%. And those st...

Zip 8000 staff? Blimey. That many.

I think that’s 8000 staff work at Osterley for Sky, not just for ssn

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

As to whether their lockdown is working or not is a highly charged debate. I think there are merits to both sides of the debate here. Lockdown doesnt have an endgame and will destroy your economy. There is a short term gain with long term problems. Not locking down will increase the spread of the v...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Sorry, but this is becoming utterly counter productive and this thread is now officially off limits. Guessing at numbers and outcomes by those with no actual knowledge doesn’t help. Extrapolating using an obvious preexisting bias doesn’t help. I can understand that it could get bad but I reckon som...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

Of course with the herd-immunity the point is that 60% people who are very low risk get it. So it won’t be anything like 1% death rate that it would be for the entire population

Whether it works out like that is a different matter of course

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

School closures aren't to protect the kids really, more reduce the chance of them spreading it to, say, their grandparents. Yep I know. But by protecting the grandparents (supposedly - not sure how true that would be in reality) it could cause massive knock on effects to the kids No easy answer. 4 ...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

it’s all very uncertain. We don’t know how the virus will continue to mutate and behave. We don’t even know if getting it once rules you out of getting it again However you can’t just stop life. Saw suggestions of schools taking 16 weeks off. It will do untold and widespread damage to these kids in ...

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

i think the logical thing to do would be postpone the leagues, then play the remaining games late May and June because I think Euro 2020 will be put off till next year. Start next season in September and cancel the cup comps. Its going to be very strange stopping the season for 2 months and restart...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stoke City (h) sponsored by John Halls

I’m looking forward to this one - I think it’ll be a good marker of where we are as a team. Stoke are more than beatable but have some decent players knocking about. Allen will be a miss though I’m guessing it’ll be the same team - possibly Obita back in. I think Obita is clearly Bowen’s favoured LB...

Hound Think Kelly has been sat on the bench for the past couple of games or so urzzzz

Interesting but disappointing from Barrett - that’s not really good enough

Re: Ex Players

I’m not sure whether there are specific circumstances, but noticed Kelly has played barely an hours football for Oxford, Barrett seems to have been dropped altogether for Bristol R and Howe seems to be permanently benched for Blackpool I know the second two have time on their side but that’s a bit p...
