Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Reaction on Twitter is nothing short of a disgrace. They’re the same people that will come crawling out of the woodwork if we get a couple of wins. Twitter really is full of knobs Not really a disgrace is it. It is a highly controversial managerial appointment done in a very dodgy looking way that ...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Scutterbucketz I feel very similar to how I felt with the last 4 manager appointments; Absolutely unbothered.

Be bothered about it or I'll break your legs.

Re: Next Manager

just a suggestion but maybe Bowen had little to do with Gomes being sacked? Maybe Howe saw how Bowen was working and decided he would be a good option if they needed to sack Gomes. Also potentially bought him back in to the DoF role in the first place with one eye on him succeeding if Gomes didn't....

Re: Howe out?

Why would they ask Sir John anything? He has had his day. Sir John for all the good he has done for us is a dinosaur and has no idea about modern football.

Re: Howe out?

Since being reappointed as chief executive in December 2018 Nigel Howe has: Sacked Paul Clement as we were starting to show some form. Taken 3 weeks to appoint Jose gomes despite him having nothing on his CV to suggest he would be a successful championship manager. Employed a remarkably scatter gun...

NewCorkSeth
Theroyalbox Charlie Watts tweeted that he was a good bet at 25/1, after the Gomes sacking.
Definitely was planned

I miss Watts. Great journalist.

He isn't dead m8, he's still a journalist.

Re: Next Manager

Yeah, because Gomes’ record was great before he joined us! Al these bitter fans that their hero Gomes has gone are pathetic. The bloke failed, simple as that. Give the new guy a chance FFS. Hate the self entitlement of our fans. He’s now going to be under pressure from day 1 which is just embarrass...

Re: Next Manager

If Bowen is appointed it's a complete and utter effing joke. The guy has been a serial failure as Assistant Manager to his mate Mark Hughes. Furthermore, as Sporting Director IMO he's every bit as much to blame for the poor start to the season as Gomes and his coaching team. He then compounds that ...

Re: Next Manager

Telegraph reporting Bowen has signed a deal until the end of the season. Eddie Niedzwiecki to be his no.2. #readingfc see Bowen as an 'experienced, steady hand'

Experienced...........

Re: Next Manager

It may be he had some very clear views as DoF on what Gomes was doing wrong, and considers himself best placed to fix quickly. In which case, good luck and I hope he's right. I'm interested to see if we get a new DoF. And if he's not very good, does he go back upstairs? Or is his time at the club f...

Re: Next Manager

NewCorkSeth Wasnt Clarke rated highly as a coach? Doesnt guarentee being a good or even decent manager.

He is a good coach and manager though, has done reasonably well everywhere he has been.

Re: Next Manager

IF it is Bowen, surely has to be down to FFP. Also throws into question the Gomes sacking for me too, no secret that he was on a decent sum of money - obviously results didn't help his cause, but does make me think getting his salary off the books and appointing internally could make it a financial...

Re: Next Manager

If it is Bowen we’ve had some dreadful managerial appointments in the past but this takes the biscuit, no pun intended . Club is a fcuking shambles Maybe the final straw that’s broken the supporters backs Any new manager deserves time no matter what we think of them. This could easily end up being ...

Re: Next Manager

If true, can't help being disappointed. But that's probably a good thing as I was equally disappointed with McGhee, Quinn/Gooding, McDermott, Pardew Will have the continuity, knows the players. Will hopefully bring in a decent coaching team. But yeah you're right, will be under significant pressure...

Re: Next Manager

With Bowen now at odds of 1/12 - that would tell you its a done deal. Nearest is Sherwood at 12s. Tell you what, he must rate himself and got a magic wand because he has put himself under an enormous amount of pressure from the get go. Executioner turned manager rolled into one. Good luck with that...
