Re: Player Ratings

USA-7 Good saves, no arguments.............. Murts-7 As commited as ever, gave his all Ingamarrsson-7 Solid, kept torres relatively quiet, our best CB at the moment Sonko-5 Still looks very rusty, though is always a prescence Shorey-6 One of his better performances this season Hunt-7 Good penalty, ...

Every resereve game I've seen Fae play, he's sat infront of the back four. Even when playing with Cisse. He's a holding player, who can get forward. Which is just the same as Harper. One of us obviously confused. I also go to a fair few reserve games and to me Cisse is more the holding player and F...

The reason Gunnar keeps getting played is that he is the only experienced defensive CM that we have . I agree that Cisse is his obvious replacement but this is a risk due to lack of experience and SC does not generally like taking too many risks. Having said this after Gunnar's truly awful display a...

The problem is that the players who will truly take us to the next level are the likes of Ronaldo, Torres, Gerard, Lampard, Cahill etc. Utter rubbish. The next level for us is teams like Man City, Newcastle and Aston Villa, Portsmouth. All established Premiership teams, who don;t look like they wil...

As always SC makes loads of sense and long may he remain at the helm.

If only the avearge hobnobber had 10% as much common sense!

Not really gonna take us to the next level is it? Which is exactly what Coppell says these new signings need to do. It's strange how Coppell goes from totally talking down transfers, to massively inflating expectations, from interview to interview. Would like Taylor and Hulse. We need more quality ...

I doubt very much we will buy 4 or 5 big names - we may bid for a few but I would expect no more than 2 significant additions and perhaps a couple of younger lower league players. In reality it would be pointless buying players in the below £4M or so category as they are unlikely to be much better ...

I cannot help wondering if SC has got fed up with Lita's antics and decided to sell in January. This could be why he did not let Simon Cox be cup tied - perhaps he intends to give Cox a chance in the NY. I for one hope so as I rate Cox and think he can make it in the Premiership - given a chance. I ...

If you look back over the last 3 seasons you will see that 20 points has been well clear of relegation each year. I think at least 6/7 teams are likely to be below 20 points after 19 games this season. Bottom teams tend to get more points in the second half as there are more meaningless games as the...

Just come back from a weekend away so only saw MOTD. From what was said it sounded and looked to me that we were a tad unlucky. Having read this thread however it sounds as though the streets of Reading must have been flowing with the blood of all the hobnobbers slitting their wrists. Please be real...

Yes Long 3rd and Cox 4th - what is your point??

Long very well thought of by SC and Cox has always done well whenever given a chance at RFC or out on loan. Surely it is great news we have two promising 20 year olds!!

Victor - you forget that Halls was very well thought of at Stoke - Championship side - so why you think Halls cannot play at a level he has already proved himself at is beyond me. Also if you had watched our reserve games you would know that Halls has proved to be a good player and even looked ok ag...

I think you are both being very pessimistic.

Halls had a good game against Liverpool, plays well for the reserves and so if we get less than £250K I will be surprised.

Difficult to say with Stack - may get £100K but I doubt much more.

Not a lot - but it all helps and saves two salaries.

What we need to remember is that the current contracts for Halls and Stack expire in the Summer 08 so Jan is the last time we will be able to sell these players. As we are very unlikely to offer an extension due to their being unable to establish a first team place we have to put them in the shop wi...

I think this could be the end of the road for JH at Reading - looks like this is the prelude to a permanent deal in January - providing he does well. I think he is a far better player than many on here give credit. If not for injury he may well have become a permanent fixture but now we have Rosenio...

Review of the season so far

Although In am one of those who choose to be positive about our chances - and am fairly sure that however much of a struggle this season turns out to be there will be at least 3 teams worse than us at the end of the season - I do think that there are concerns for all to see. These are not just about...

Not sure this is a helpful thread. It is clear for all to see that as a team Reading have not played as well as last year but we are only 3 points behind where we were at the same stage last year so all is to play for. I do not think SC has worked out his best team yet but when he does I am sure nor...

We are going over old ground - but clearly the club fancied Halford and paid a club record. He turned out to be rubbish - certainly based on the times I watched him. We then managed to offload him at a profit. The conclusions we can draw are 1/ However good a manager only about 40/50% of the players...

For those with short memories it may be worth saying that if Reading win one of their next two games we will be on exactly the same number of points as after 11 games last year - 13 to be exact (4 wins 1 draw and 6 defeats). At times in the first 11 games of last season we were not very impressive e...
