Re: Squad for 2020/21

Would still love to see Lewis Baker back in a Reading shirt...thought after a mediocre start to his loan spell, he developed into a key player..was sorry to see him go, but would be great to have him back...permanently if poss.. WCBAP. But his loan spell here has been pretty much his only good spel...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

Good luck to McCleary, Obita and Gunter - they have both been model professionals throughout their time at the club. I think the Adam signing was a bit of a waste of money in truth but good luck to him too. Blackett’s time here was mixed but he was good at times. Our remaining squad is now very sma...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

If we're going back on our word with Liverpool only to sign him on a free, I assume they will never loan/sell us anybody again and could have grounds to take us to court. I assume we're making a late attempt to get him to agree to a lower wage, which isn't as silly as it sounds in the current enviro...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

I wonder if Bowen's preferred style is closer to McDermott and Coppell from his interviews. Lots of focus on youth and energy, as opposed to technical ability. From what I've seen of Laurent, he fits in with this. This year's squad was not the best suited for Bowen if so, based around Swift and Eja...

Re: Rumour - Josh Laurent

Exactly the sort of signing we should be making. Young, hungry, cheap, able to improve and on our radar for a long time (not just a punt).

Re: Bowen, Sack? Yes or no?

Glad to see a clear majority in the poll for keeping him on. This surely means he won't be sacked.

Jokes aside, clearly behind the HNA meltdowns, most posters are more measured

Re: Rival Watch

Birmingham have retired the no. 22 shirt after Jude Bellingham's transfer to Dortmund    We've had some embarrassing moments at Reading. No.13 on the bench for all those years, a pitch invasion when we finished 7th, that terrible song. This tops the lot of them.

Re: Squad for 2020/21

That’s an average of 15k a week for each of those players. Doesn’t seem that outrageous. £15k - £20k should be top end for Championship clubs without parachute payments. Maybe your best 4 or 5 players. The majority need to be on less, ideally with a similar number of academy players or very low wag...

Re: Squad for 2020/21

The thing I don't understand about the Ejaria rumours is that it looked to be all agreed and we were obligated. I completely understand why we can no longer afford the wages we offered last summer (maybe we could never really afford them in the first place). But are we allowed to simply go back on i...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h) sponsored by Andy Legg & Jason Bowen

If we were losing with some kind of fight and passion or losing but playing nice football and creating chances I'd be fine with Bowen being given the summer but we aren't, not even close. It's difficult because for the last three games of the season, we were on the beach. You might blame Bowen for ...

Re: Rival Watch

On paper looks a weak league next year with who's stayed up, who's coming up and possible points deductions next season. You'd have to be pretty bad to go down Yes well said.of course you can never predict what will happen in an upcoming season but yes, the teams that have stayed up, the teams comi...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Swansea City (h) sponsored by Andy Legg & Jason Bowenrth

Bowen will get sacked and it will be fully deserved. We are a disgrace. Move him back to DoF and get Hughton or Ainsworth. Why would either of them come? All well and good saying go and get this person and that person, but they actually have to want the job first. Wycombe are a well run club punchi...

TalkSPORT now saying the stumbling block is differences in valuation between the 2 clubs. I'm going to tune out of rumours and journo tweets.

Re: Squad for 2020/21

NewCorkSeth FFP is a joke. Not surprised owners aren't taking it seriously.

Tbf, there could be 3 teams given a points deduction this season. It's not that unlikely that Sheff Wed and Wigan will be relegated because of it. We should take FFP compliance very seriously

Re: Squad for 2020/21

Owner trying to block Swift from leaving  Hope this is a hardball tactic. I love the man but he won't be happy, a move to the Blades would be a good career choice for him. It'd better be hard ball. If we force him to stay and bump up his wages, clearly we've learned nothing and nothing will ...
