Re: Next Manager

Whether you agree with Hughes or not, it's encouraging we appear to have a replacement plan. Those 4 weeks or so after Clement last year were shambolic.

Re: GOMES OUT!

Also, at those who bemoaned structure, organized and naivety with Gomes who are now disappointed with the prospect of Hughes. Look at Blackburn, Charlton and, to an extent, Stoke. I can see the appeal of a younger manager from lower down the pyramid like Ainsworth, but if Hughes is true I expe...

Re: GOMES OUT!

Been told that Jose Gomes and his staff's authority in the dressing room had severely deteriorated in the last few weeks. Also told several first-team players had nicknamed him a 'Car Salesman' because he 'talked a good game' - Make of that what you will. Bloody hell. These same players have not ex...

Re: BFTG Bristol

Zonal marking usually means defenders are competing for a header from a standing position whereas the attacker is coming from a moving position so they have the momentum. What’s wrong with just picking up a man and following them. It’s a much simpler concept What if your man runs out wide and an on...

Re: BFTG Bristol

Let's look at extremes: If every outfield player marks every outfield player very tightly, it will be very hard for them to score. If every outfield player picks one separate area of the pitch (let's say covering their own half only to make things easier) then youonly need literally two players to ...

Re: Gomes, Should he stay or should he go? Mk2

This is almost as divisive as Brexit.... In all seriousness, I was firmly in the "Out" camp on Saturday, but he seems to have a lot of support. Whatever happens, I don't think anyone can deny the job he did last season and the annual manager change in recent years has got us nowhere. So I ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

Yep. But not the Romanian international who has scored 5 international goals, team of the tournament at Euro U21 and only a couple of weeks ago gave Ramos and co a tough game in a qualifier against Spain? Well quite. Something doesn’t add up. New country, new club, struggling team. Maybe he just fe...

Re: GOMES OUT!

I'm very much Jose in. But who is saying we wouldn't have money problems if relegated? I think we would .. We're past the main financial stumbling block of the three year cycle that was causing us problems. It would be less bad than going down in the last couple of seasons. Not good, but not immedi...

Re: Gomes, Should he stay or should he go? Mk2

The long term future of the club interests me more. exactly and that why we need to stop the rot now. I question whether the club can survive at a lower level. we have moved on since elm park but there is a cost attached. My fear about falling to a lower level is that the owners see regression desp...

Re: GOMES OUT!

I understand the view that we simply need stability. Some clubs have bounced back from L1 stronger, and you'd hope we're too big to stay there long term. I'm trying to think of clubs around our size who have gone on to fester at a lower level. Aside from those with money issues, I can't think of any.

Re: GOMES OUT!

Exactly...look where it’s got us Haven’t we been here before? History repeating itself....just run with what we’ve currently got...be brave...tough it out folks. What if he takes us down? Is this now a risk worth taking after several years of dire football and manager turnover? If we're 8 points ad...

Re: Gomes, Should he stay or should he go? Mk2

A lot of people are mentioning Hughton as a possible replacement. I'd be thrilled if this happens, but do we not need a bit of realism? We were last in the Premier League in 2013. Since we came down, we have largely been a below average Championship team with a couple of exceptions. He'll be joining...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

genome Start season like shit. Sack manager. Do the bare minimum to stay up. Rinse and repeat

It's so boring

This squad has the ability the break the cycle. If Gomes goes, next appointment is a big one.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

Yep Hudders have made the change and seems to be working out for them Record £££s spent, bottom 3 at second international break. I suspect his time is up. Bet it isn’t. Can the club afford his dismissal? Suspect he’ll see us through the next few games (all extremely difficult) so bottom 3 is likely...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

WestYorksRoyal Sounds like we're not actually playing too badly.

Correct, we've been well in this game, away to a Top6 side. Meite missed a big chance in 1st half. (Just as he did early vs. Fulham).
And now Puscas with the goal gaping...

Decent performances, soft goals and missed chances get you relegated though.

Puscas misses another sitter. Sounds like we're not actually playing too badly. But soft goal and missed chances. Match losing combination at any level

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

windermereROYAL Look on the bright side. Ipswich were shit last year but unbeaten in L1 now. could that be a rebuilding job for us?

I don't know how league 1 squares with FFP and money spent on Puscas and Joao. And we should be able to rebuild at this level.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (a) sponsored by hopeless causes

This team has no discipline. I don't mean fouls and cards; I mean structure, organisation and hard work. Gomes and his team seem to be all about passion, expression and emotion. Doesn't win you anything by itself.
