Re: Joao Replacement

I think if we stop this zonal crap and just get back to basics then Moore and Morro should be the starting CB's, however, McIntyre and Holmes must be wondering what they have to do to take their place. Regarding Swift, i think he's played out wide a few times in the past and looked ok even though h...

Re: Joao Replacement

You can't play Swift as a winger though. That's worse than asking Puscas as a lone striker. And Rino is dropped despite being one of our more reliable players. Whilst Captain Calamity retains his place. I think if we stop this zonal crap and just get back to basics then Moore and Morro should be th...

Re: Rival Watch

Yes but only after sacking the last bloke. Same likely to happen now. Stoke away for them next before a trip to Derby. Couple of easier games, though derby factor with Derby. Stoke have scored 6 and have 7/9. They are better than the Blackburn side they lost too last night. I did wonder whether I o...

Stranded
Snowflake Royal Didn't they start really badly last season and then finish ok?

Re: Joao Replacement

If we can't alter our shape to optimise the International Striker we have, then the Coach isn't as good as be thinks he is. This 100% !!!!!!! in all walks of life you have to adapt and overcome....especially in sport, if you stand still your competition will overtake. We have lost 40+ goals between...

Re: BFTG - Brizzle

Definitely seen them given. 'Natural' position is a bit of a weird one anyway, your arm naturally goes in a big arc from head to hip. Morrisons handball last week - no arguments at all that was a pen - but if you are going in for a tackle, your arm would 'naturally' go in the position it ended up i...

Re: BTFG - Preston

Some of Puscas's goals have been wonderful finishes. He seems to not be the quickest but then you think of his predator instincts at Wigan which I thinks are his strengths. I think he needs a decent supply of ball from widemen but we just don't play like that. Best when playing facing the goal imo....

Re: Relegation

Zonal marking is one of those hobnob cliches which comes up regularly as a ‘ditch this and we’ll be better’. Along with ‘shouldn’t play out from the back’ and ‘need speedy winger’. Zonal is fine if people do their jobs properly. They didn’t on Tuesday and you changing the system doesn’t change that...

Re: Relegation

John Smith
Snowflake Royal We should not be trying to replace him with Cahill.

Why not? He almost single-handedly kept a dogshit Palace side in the division last season.

Aging, twilight of a declining career, used to big wages and we already have Morrison, McIntyre, Holmes and Dorsett plus more academy lads.

Re: Relegation

What experience does Ainsworth have of dealing with big time Charlies like Moore, or finding Championship quality on the cheap?

If we got relegated, him or Parky, fine. But he's operated on a totally different level and set of circumstances with Wycombe.

Re: Ex Players

Also sums up Gomes.

Alienating decent players on big money and long contracts that he thought he could just wave a wand and make disappear.

Baldock was always decent. Just made miserable here and completely misused.

Saying that though, one goal doesn't a good season make.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (h)

Swift was well beyond the centre half a lot of times. Neither Rino nor Laurent were actually picking the ball up from the CB’s. Neither are particularly good passers. There was also a lack of movement and as a team we are hopelessly slow at shifting the ball, There were times when Bristow was in ac...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol City (h)

At goal kicks Swift was often advanced well up the pitch almost in a centre forward position when we really needed him a lot deeper to play the Lewis Baker role and pick the ball up off the centre backs. He did it on occasions but nowhere near enough. The defending was unbelievably bad. I need to s...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (a)

Should play Moore as a sweeper - Ruud Gullit style. Don't know why that ever went out of fashion. Give him a brush and get him cleaning concourses and I agree. But I think you mean a different sweeper. Do sweepers play behind or infront of the defence? Before my time... behind and they're a recipie...

Re: BFTG - Brizzle

I also think Ejaria's defensive work is underrated on here and by fans generally. Watch him closely in a game and you see he's got a good footballing brain; providing cover for a LB that gets caught out of position and chasing back hard when we lose the ball in transition. Not all the time of cours...

Re: BFTG - Brizzle

For the handball the ref could not have been closer, he indicated the defender had his arms down by his side, correct decision in my view. You've seen the picture on the OS? His arm is clearly not flat against his side. Therefore he has, under the current guidance, made his body 'unnaturally bigger...

Re: Relegation

Hot take: We look good going forward this season because Ovie isn't slowing down every attack to a walking pace and passing backwards when we're on a break What are your thoughts on playing Ejaria as a sort of false 9 once he is fit? Can hold up the ball and bring others into the game? He has the n...
