Re: Looking forward to the 2024-25 season

The recruitment last summer was great, but we did have Jared Dublin in the build up. I wonder how important he was. From the outside, it looks like Bowen and Carey are more old-school in how they go about things, using relationships, reports etc., to identify targets, whereas Dublin filled in a gap...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Given the last few years I'm not sure we should really be lolling at clubs with batshit mental owners seemingly intent on screwing the club into the ground. That said, £3 billion? Just how could a stadium cost that much unless you're using it for money laundering purposes? Clubs are always going to...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Their involvement can give them some golden years and leave them in a much better position when they finally leave, but long term I don't see how Wrexham can sustain a Championship team in the same way we can't sustain a Premier League club. Population, geography and being a "big club" do...

Re: The Magic Number Thread

We've already achieved the number of points needed to ensure that four teams finish below us. Therefore it is 0! Magic number doesn't take into account teams playing each other - it is just a simplistic guide to how close you are to achieving a goal. We know we have achieved it but for "comple...

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

I probably should wait until a takeover is confirmed, but hopefully Dai is on his way out. In terms of how I'd like to see incoming owners go about business, I think there are several priorities to focus on: 5) Back the women's team If the men have had it bad, the women's team has been ruined. Back...

Re: Looking forward to the 2024-25 season

We will naturally lose a couple of the OOC players, as some will get tempting offers from a division above & we may need to fend off interest in Wing, Smith & Knibbs but, maybe naively, this squad seem to love working together, working for this manager and there is clearly a refound bond be...

Re: New owners' top 5 priorities

Let the recruitment side recruit - they seem to know what they are doing - let the football side focus on that and do all they can to increase income i.e. more bums on seats, sensible sales and most likely more sponsorship deals. If it is a US based investor, hope they are a more hands off one like ...

Even if that is the case missing a payment would likely mean the sale has fallen through. So we'll have bigger issues than another 2pts.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

With everybody in the bottom 4 getting a few wins in the last few games, the relegation zone is now right behind Schalke. What a final 7 games that looks to be down there. Would be insane for Schalke to drop down again, in-freaking-sane. Is 1 FCK, the well known Kaiserslautern or Cologne by another...

He plays there with former Chesterfield & Bracknell player Reece Mitchell.

Can't imagine they earn too much playing at that level. Their clubs stadium has a bigger capacity than the town has citizens.

Re: The Magic Number Thread

I don't know about no magic number malarkey. My method is to wait until the end of the season and see where we are in the table. Works every time. Not if points deductions come into play….. Famous last words but they really shouldn't now - HMRC and wages appear to have been paid on time in March me...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Quite, it's a football league record - the all time record at any level in England is AFC Wimbledon's 130 points when winning the CCL Premier League - they also scored 180 goals that season with their top scorer netting 53 time. Our 106 season remains the professional record in England. The Nationa...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

The Saarbrucken cup fairytale ended here last night, Kaiserslauten moving into the final with a routine win. Will be their first apperance in a final since 2003. First non 1. Bundesliga finalist since Duisburg in 2011 I think. Is still possible that it could be an all Second Division final but that ...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Opposite end of the scale to Everton is Brighton, who have released their accounts showing last financial year they made a profit of £123M and that doesn't even include the money for Caicedo or Sanchez Apparently that's a Premier League record. Even though it doesn't include money for Caicedo or Sa...

Re: Hob Nob Anyone? player of the season 2023/24

5 games to go it's that time again, who is your player of the season? vote now. hobnob only allows 20 options on a poll. So I went to transfermarket.com sorted players by appearances and removed the players who fcuked off in Jan like Abbey Holmes vickers etc. The below list is In order of the numbe...
