Re: I wanna go home, this is a s**thole...

My old man said be an Oxf*rd fan, And I said bollocks you're a kant, I'd rather shag a bucket with a big hole in it, Than be an Oxf*rd fan for just one minute, With hammers and hatchets, stanley knives and spanners, We'll show the Oxford bastards how to fight (How to fight), I'd rather shag a bucke...

Re: 'The Legend of Robin Friday' by Roger Titford

Has been shown on here before, but worth another look for those who missed it. Now that's a mature response to a thread which is essentially a dodd. Please note others (you know who you are) Nice one Gordon, but i suspect that your fine example will be wasted. Most of the people that you are...

Has 'bigshaka'away' been informed of the latest in Readings only 'No-Go Suburb' ? With this and last weeks armed robberies there, you have to say that it really is no Nirvana.

Re: Robin Friday

The only time I ever remember Reading being on 'Big Match' was when they showed Steve Death making a goal keeping howler - anyone shed light on that one? Think that was the Watney cup V manure in 1970. Deathy had a bit of a goal kick taking problem at the time. The proper Big Match also came when w...

Re: Robin Friday

I came over the wall at the Town End and onto the pitch to celebrate with Dennis Nelson when he scored the third goal against Crewe at the end of that season! Would have got me arrested and banned nowadays! Next day, saw myself on the tv when the game was shown 'The Big Match'? A very rare occasion...

Re: Robin Friday

What a hopeless concept the 'e-book' is. Half the joy of reading the book is that you can do so wherever and whenever you like; on the bus or train to work, on the beach etc. You don't have the joy of thumbing through the pages at leisure with a poxy e-book  floyd, that seems a somewhat ironi...

'KNEES UP MOTHER BROWN' followed with a surge down the terrace. Can you imagine anything like it with todays Tangoes? It was legalised rioting really.

Re: Steve Coppell's recent talk

Was present at his talk and when asked whether money was available in 2nd prem season and subsequently, he inferred it was a long drawn out process getting funds from Mr Mad which meant we missed out on certain players Inferred or implied? Dearie, dearie me! GET A LIFE BOY, quickly. According to Th...

Re: Spotted - Paul Black

In an echo of Athletico Spizz's post on this subject I had the pleasure of standing next to Paul Black on the terrace at Birmingham in 1990 whilst he was spouting his stupid pro IRA songs. As a seviceman myself at the time who had served in Northern Ireland, I found this particularly annoying and p...

Re: Spotted - Paul Black

I remember him in the Tilehurst end in the 70's. In those days he used to wear the scarf of the visiting team. Workington, Southport etc. I guess he's abandoned that now? For those that were not around in the earl/mid seventies, the taking of opposition scarves, as trophies of the fight was the don...

Z175 A book about the fate of the 106 point team and its manager entitled "The Grass is not Greener".

This would make a great read, especially for players on the threshold of the premier league.
But I think that SSC is exonerated from any accusations of folly.

VaLOLid. Seriously though, whenever I have to venture west of the Ramada I begin to feel unsafe and no little depressed. I genuinely feel for anyone who lives in the other half of the town, a genuinely gloomy place it is with your weird Oxford Road streetlighting and run-down sex shops. You all buy...

I live in Caversham and would love to know which area is a 'no go areas', as they seemed to have passed me by. This has confused me. - also what serious crime, other than the odd mugging?????? Its no nivarna, but its nothing like you have suggested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading,_Berkshire [...

Re: Reading FC was a West Reading club

Indeed, I would also say that West Reading is the heartbeat of the whole town. RFC will always be a West Reading club to me... Wasn't Reading FC founded after a meeting in Bridge street (North Reading), with the first games being played at Reading Recreation Park (Courages sports ground at Coley Pa...

Re: RFC Wishlist

Madejski sells the club to someone with a lot of money who wants to invest in the team and stadium and take us forward. Sounds like yet another deluded teenager, lacking experience of life. Do you think that there is a queue of billionaires somewhere, desperate to own a football club, just so they ...
